Hi all, I do not think I have ever seen this issue addressed before, but my male and female Scottish folds have been trying to mate for 4 days now. My female (folded fold, age 2) and my male (straight fold, age 8 mo.) can not seem to get it together...if you know what I mean. She won't move her tail correctly, and he goes up too high onto her back...so now what???? I have been waiting for him to be interested in her and old enough to have a mating. I know that he can, because he bred with my other female a month ago with no problem. HELP!!

He'll get better at it soon. He's just young and inexperienced! Give it a bit more time ok? I do know that some persian breeders do need to assist with the matings but I don't think this is the case. Just give it a little time ok?

Thank you, talk about one FRUSTRATED little boy though! lol I have been wanting to breed her for a year now but never had the right male to complement her. Now I have him, and she is willing but also inexperienced. She is in heat constantly so he is really over excited! Poor guy!

A ragdoll breeder friend was also frustrated! All three of her girls were in heat and the boy was really, really trying very hard and failing. We were worried he was shooting blanks when I finally get the phone call...after two months of trying. And guess what? The breeder will have 3 consecutive litters!!
The boy is now only 10 months old!!!

That is good to hear. I know that the other mama kitty is pregnant by him...but she was an experienced "older" woman. Tippie is a little nieve and overanxious. If she doesn't get it right though I will most likely have her spayed in the spring as she does go into heat so often.
