Has she calmed down Jenny?
No more dashes through the door?

She is adorable.

I am spending as much time with her as I can and she is a real lovebug. But I have noticed one thing - she hates seeing a hand approaching her, and will run. It is fine if she comes to me or if I pick her up round the tummy or starting at the back of her head - she is just terrified if the hand goes near her head to start with. Once on my lap she is fine and I can scritch her ears or head - it is the initial touch. I wonder if she has been used to being smacked around the head or other wise hurt in some way.

Oh poor thing. That is also the hand position for grabbing her roughly.

Poor baby! Sounds like this is the case. Have you tried it with the back of your hand facing her instead of the palm facing her? Sometimes this makes a large difference.

Yes, and giving her fingers to sniff. She is getting better and yesterday jumped up on to my lap. it just takes time. Today she is going for vaccinations and health check, then I can introduce her to the others slowly. And I shall make a spay appointment for next week.

She has a clean bill of health - official! The new vet (another new one!) agreed with me that she is not a true feral, but probably dumped. And that she is 5 months old. But he will not spay her for another two months, till a month after her next vaccination. She will be 7 months old, in the middle of breeding season - heaven only knows what we are going to go through. He says it is not her age, but he doesn't like to do it until the vaccinations are complete so she has total immunity. Why does every vet, in every country, say something different when it comes to age of speuter? I tried to argue, but it was no good. They are my last option when it comes to vets - the third one I have tried, without travelling a really long distance.

It IS strange, isn't it? If it's for TNR, our vet will do early-age spay-neuter. But if it's for an indoor-only pet, he will only do it when their first tooth falls out (around 4 months). It's just weird! With any luck, she won't go into heat before she's spayed and it won't be an issue.

And excellent news on Biscotte!
And it does seem like she's coming around so quickly.

I hope the intros go well.

that's just illogical. if it's safe early, then it's safe early. shouldn't matter where they live!

I am so pleased that she got a clean bill of health, just a shame the vet wont spay her yet, seems daft waiting so long after her vacc's, but fingers crossed she wont come into heat before then and you wont have too many troubles.

She is now officially part of the family, and she knows it! Intros have gone well and apart from a few hisses from Dushka and Ellie if they think she has overstepped the mark, all is well. She knows herself to be bottom of the pecking order, and won't eat, even from a separate plate, untill all the others have finished, and then she tucks in. But she has chosen a favourite chair and tries to occupy it whenever it is free. Wellington has adopted her and I have posted some pix of both of them in the Fur Pix forum. Meanwhile, here she is on her own, very relaxed:

She is a treasure. I'm glad Wellington has found a companion.
