You are a clan leader and have nine lives if the second half of the name is "star." In the books, only leaders are granted nine lives by Star Clan, which is all their ancestors who live in Silver Pelt, a group of stars that they see and pray to. All their ancestors live in Silver Pelt.

The names change like this: They have a naming ceremony for a kitten and one is named Snowkit. When they become apprentice to a warrior, it becomes Snowpaw. When they become warrior, the last part varies, like "tail" or "pelt" or "fur" and so on. Only clan leaders get to be named "star."

Yes, a series, the Warrior series by Erin Hunter. There are six in the first set; second set is Warriors: The New Prophecy, six also, I think. I've finished first set and 3 of second set. I don't know what age group is targeted but I think they are actually written for children. I'm 60 and enjoying them. As you might imagine, with feral cats there's lots of hunting, eating of freshly killed prey, and fighting. The clue to a younger audience is the absence of any mention of mating. There's friendship and love and kits but that's as close as it gets to sex.

They are a fun read. I got all of mine from Amazon's used selection.
