So I was watching tv this morning and a commercial came on about how a person with a college degree makes on average half a million more in a lifetime than someone without a degree. I decided well dang lets see what up at this school I was going too.

I was enrolled in the medical coding program at a local technical college but I had to quit taking the courses because I can only go to school at night. I have only received two things since I quit going to this school . A w-2 and something telling me I needed to do something that I couldnt do. (during the day)

But anyways I was looking at the course schedule and lo and behold what do I see ? Medical coding classes being offered at night that I cant attend now cause It is too late to register.

The advisor I had knew that I couldnt attend classes during the day. All of the five classes I could take I took at night. I would think that she would have sent me something or the school would have sent me something.

I feel like crying and my heart is racing because I am worried that I will never get to go to school and work at the same time. I know some people can do it but I work the 9-5 for 10$ an hour. I am only 20.

ARGGGHHHH!!!!

I dont know wth to do.

If you were already going there and they know you I would call them immediately and see if they can make an exception and let you register. You never know.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you are only 20. I know it sucks, but just wait until next semester(quarter?) and start then. I'm 38 now and have had to put off classes for various reasons (like yours) and moving. As for the advisor telling you about the classes, that would be rare as she probably deals with tons of students (i know from past experience)

So, in short, see if they could make an exception. If not, start next time classes start. I was hoping to be done by the time I'm 40. I still have 4+ years to go with school.

Good luck...

If they can't make an exception, most likely the class will be offered again next semester. Most likely there was a need for the class at night and the college finally realized this.

Does the college require that you use an advisor? If so see if you can't consult a different one.

If not, I do all of my own scheduling. I go online to the scheduling and pick out my own classes. I specifically look for the ones that meet the hours I can attend class.

Good luck!!

I agree with Whisky's Dad.

I can understand your frustration. I had to drop a class 2 years ago and take a W in it b/c I had a terminally ill father. Didn't take any classes that next semester either, I couldn't deal with school then. It put me a solid year behind in graduation

Just keep saying I WILL graduate eventually. I'm almost 40, and have decided that instead of a RN, I want a BSN which will be at least another 3 years of school.

There are really three whatevers at this school. Its just my luck that they wont be offereing the classes at night because of it being the summer next.

There is a spring, summer and fall according to this school. The only time I got any classes that I wanted was when I used a guidance conselor in the office. The advisor I have always tried to pressure me into taking classes that I just couldnt take.

O and this school has an online thing that is supposed to let you register online now and all that good stuff but I cant get into it at all with my password or name that I used to use. Its like I am cut off and dont exist. This semester thing will make a year that I have not been able to go.
