Wonderful idea!
I think we should do all that we can to show John just how much he meant to all of us

Yes, like Crittermom said. Food, old toys that Trout doesn't play with anymore.Originally Posted by Trouts mom
I am wondering how much is the minimum you can donate. I want to do something, but I have no expendable income at all.
Any ideas? (I feel like a schmuck asking this, but I really have no money. I would donate a million if I could)
I don't really think there's a minimum. Most shelters will accept anything that your willing to give.Originally Posted by Trouts mom

Also alot of rescues need old newspapers to line cages with. You could even donate that.Originally Posted by kluchetta

I took my little Kera to be spayed this morning and in Honor Of Amber I placed a Donation of $25 to provide shelter and food for Cats and Kittens in my local area. I know its not much and wish I could do more But I will Keep Amber in my thoughts when the next time comes around that I am able to make another donation. Hugs to you John and Your Family.
Amber has Touched so many people here on TCS and with out ever meeting her in person she became a great friend. A person with great love for all animals and a willing heart to help anyone or anything she could. I know I will remember her kind words when i needed them the most and all her help and advice.
Great idea!!! And you can ask around work for that sort of thing from people.Originally Posted by CatlessGoatMan

I never knew that until I met Amber. That they accepted newspapers. But she was obsessed with saving and getting newspapers so that every other week she could bring them to several different rescues around here. I thought she was nuts at first. But they really appreciate it. So if you dont have alot of money or none at all thats an easy thing to use.Originally Posted by sarahp

Some spare time as a volunteer is a donation. Something they can't put a price on.Originally Posted by Trouts mom

I don't think I ever talked with Amber here, but I have read a number of her posts and she seemed like such a sweet, caring, giving young woman.
There's no rescue organization, humane society or TNR group anywhere near where I live.
But, the lady across the street has two 6 month old...what look to be Maine Coon kittens.
She has no heat in her house and she's using space heaters to keep warm.
She goes without food herself to feed those kittens and can't afford to get the female spayed or the male neutered.
The other neighbor and I take turns buying her dry and canned cat food, ringing her bell and leaving before she sees us.
Tomorrow I'm going to buy the biggest bag of kitten food they sell at the grocery store, and some canned food.
I'm going to ring her bell and give her the food and tell her why I'm doing it.
If she's willing, I'm going to tell her I'll make an appointment to have her male kitten neutered.
We got our income tax refund and I talked to my Husband and he said it was okay with him if I offered to pay for the male to be neutered...we would have only blown the money on something stupid anyway.
If someone as young as Amber can do all she did to try to make a difference in the lives of animals, helping to feed two kittens and neuter one is the least I can do.
Amber set a great example for us all!
