My hypophesis for this stupidity, is that people who live in small farm/rutal contry settings have so much nature/animal life around them that they think nothing of doing these kinds of horrble things to boost their sense of power, ego, ect. Whereas people who live in cities are isolated from nature and so value animal life/nature better. Mankind has a long ugly history of killing and runining things to the last draw only then to change for the greater good once he reales his actions DO make a impresson Thankfully in cities it is getting better. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...s/rolleyes.gif
You don't think that I know how much responsibility I have on my shoulders? I had really planned on getting her better and then just turning her out on the streets.

I don't think that animal cruelty is only happening "in the country". Just because we live in the country doesn't mean that we are all rednecks that just kill b/c we like it. Just as much cruelty happens in cities. If you don't believe me, go read the Cats SOS forum for awhile. Its not just us in the country that have this problem. Quite frankly, I find this offensive, and must assume that you've never lived "in the country". You'll find the some of the best people in the world reside here and so do some of the worst....Just like everywhere else in the world.

If you would've read the entire thread you would have realized that I am working very hard to find Bea a new home, a good home....out in the country!!! Where she has lots of room to run and play and will never be subjected to anything like this again.

Wow. I had the fortune to spend weekends and Summers on my grandparents and aunt & uncle's dairy farms. A good portion of one side of my family "lives in the country", some are very poor. Where they live, what they do for a living, has little, imo, to do with what kind of person they are, how they treat or value life.

It was my grandmother, who would take time to help me find the newest litter of kittens in the hay mow, so I could name them, who tried to help me save two kittens with bottle feeding, helped me make cornbread for their oldest farm dog who was ill...she taught me love and caring towards animals.

I frankly think folks in the country see things a bit more clearly, are more connected to the earth, the seasons. That's been my experience in over 50 years of life.

I too was offended by that post.
Because someone lives in the country in no way makes them have less respect for animals or have to "boost their sense of power or ego".

I live between two major cities.
I don't live "in the country" now, but that's where I grew up.
Some of the most wonderful, caring, loving people I've ever had the pleasure to meet come from "the country".
Those people treated all of their animals, dogs, cats, chickens, cows, pigs ect. with more love and respect then most people treat fellow human beings.

Where someone lives has nothing to do with how much respect they have for the other creatures we share this planet with.

Animal abuse isn't only something that happens in "the country" it happens in the city as well and just as often.

I have known all along that you were trying to find Miss Bea a new home. Don't worry about what anyone else said, everyone here knows you went above and beyond for Miss Bea.

I'm sorry, I just have to respond to this. I live in West Virginia. This is rural country and animals are a big part of our lives. Not only the animals we raise, but also wildlife. We respect humans and nature. Are there a few that lose respect for one or the other? Yes. But don't say that people living in cities have more respect. I watch the news from DC and Baltimore every morning. People with guns are killing people every day (very rare in the rural community, by the way)....what do you think they are doing to animals? If they don't have respect for human life, what about innocents that can't protect themselves?

I was just very offended by this post. People in cities are not better, more advanced or more educated (check your spelling, btw).

Ok, rant done.

I was upset by the post as well, but I know that Maddensmom went above and beyond what she did for Miss Bea. Miss Bea did not even belong to her at the time, and she still spent her money taking care of her.

Yeah, thats right. She did such a great job. People shouldn't make assumptions.

We all have fallen in love with Bea and she is a special dog who deserves a good home. We know she will get one - how can no one fall in love with her!

Thank you!

On the note of Bea finding a new home....my Papa did visit with her the other day and pretty much said if my Grandma wants her she can have her!!

Right now they are debating if they can afford to properly care for her or not. They are both newly retired so their finances are changing a lot right now. If they think they can afford everything, I think they will definitely take her!!

If for some reason they don't think that they can, their neighbors might. Their names are Nate and Joan. They are a wonderful older couple who just lost their 17 year old Chow-chow to a horrible accident. She was out in the yard for a couple of hours and somehow their septic tank had rotted and she fell through.
They are still totally heartbroken, that dog was their baby. They are looking for another, and may be very interested in Bea. It was such a heartbreak, but I know for a fact that they would give her the best of the best care.

Oh that is sad,
but I know you want the very best for Miss Bea too, and I know you are not gonna just give her to anyone. You are gonna make sure that someone is gonna take care of her, but most important you wanna make sure that they are gonna love her too.

That is great news! You know that she will go to a good home whether it be at your grandparents or their neighbours, AND you get to visit her and take photos for us in the Bea fan club!

That's wonderful news.
I'm so happy that Bea is going to get a great home, either with your Grandparents or with Nate and Joan.
She's such a little cutie and I know how much you care about her.
You did a wonderful thing for her, in fact you still are.
Sounds like whichever set of new parents she gets that she'll be loved and looked after.

Sorry about my earlier posts, I formed an negtive option about that from a pca I used to have who lived in the country( Thankfully he isnt working with me anymore) who told me horror stories of how they treat animals there, like dogs who missbehave in the country get shot unlike those in cities/ my veiw was wrong because I now remember dogs get shot in cities too. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...s/confused.gif It was dumb and I'm sorry. I will do more research. Its unfair for me to place that veiw on EVERYBODY who lives there. Its also bad when you start to form opinions that are based on other people messed up veiws but for me its deeper then that. I went to a small town with my dads girlfriend over last thanksgiving and saw two dogs (both unfixed and the owner didnt see anything wrong whatsoever) then went to with Jims uncle who lives out in a remoter area then most I visited with a family who had a very very bad opinion about their dog they even asked me when I started feeling concerned about her (If I could just take her awayhome with if I'd like before laughing) Then I read about ferals and TNR in the country and well... just more wood for the flames.

Didnt mean to offend anyone that lives in the country that treats their pets as family. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...lies/agree.gif Sorry if I came across as that.

I don't think that you meant to offend anyone, I just think that you didn't read and understand all of the posts. Maddensmom went above and beyond to get care for Miss Bea, she took care of her with her being shot, and paid money out of her own pocket, Miss Bea didn't belong to anyone, yet she took it upon herself to give her a home until she could find a better one.

Yes I can see that Maddensmom went to great lengths to help her dog, Before you guys gave me your imput I was remarking that this was more common in the country- now I know better.

I've often been told that I would enjoy living in the country and now that I think if it I do have a good childhood memory of visting a pca's parents house that was in the country, I caught and held a snake, alot of grasshopers and explored a vast open landscape. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...lies/smile.gif

Miss Bea is not maddensmoms dog, it is no ones dog, it lived at a trailer park and someone shot it, and maddensmom has been taking care of her and nursing her back to health.
