The assumption seems to be that she is a brat. Yeah, she was hyper in her living room - with all the press there, is it any wonder???
Now if she was a pit bull, we'd all be saying, cut her some slack, there are no bad dogs, only bad owners..
I don't think anyone was saying that her parents should have hit her at that moment to shut her up or calm her down. It was more like the fact that she was able and allowed to carry on like that for so long and cause so much trouble got a lot of posters to think that maybe the parents had not done their job properly up to that point and that lack of discipline was the issue. I have flown a lot and sat near a lot of kids (also switched seats a LOT!) and most are really ok.
And if I may be allowed another shrot thread hijack, NO ONE would tolerate my dogs doing that. Both are better behaved than most kids, but if someone's untrained kid comes up and pesters one of my dogs, they are expected to take it, but heaven help me if one of my dogs were to pester someone's kid the same way (which they do not). Hijack over.
One more thing that occured to me...maybe the flight attednents were crappy about it? I mean I used to fly a LOT and really, most are wonderful. But I had a rotten experience once with one airline flying back home from Europe. I was suppposed to change planes in Philly and the airline rebooked my second leg to a later flight without telling me
. Apparently they thought that because the first flight was delayed that I would not make the second one. Well I DID make the second one and wondered why someone else was in MY seat. The flight attendent told me I was on the wrong plane, booked for a later flight (which I did not know) but said no problem, there are three empty seats, you can have one of them. But another flight attendent told me to get off the plane. I pulled out my reservation and she said something about how it was my fault for making reservations on the internet. Well I got off but was mad as hell, they took off with empty seats and I had to wait around for the flight that I had not known I was booked on.
My point is that sometimes they ARE crappy, in my case after I complained in writing afterward they sent me a voucher, agreeing that they had not done the right thing on a couple of counts.
