Hi all, thanks to those who responded to my first cry for help. I have brought the mother and babies in. The mother appears to be quite tame. She did growl when I tried to feel her abdomen to try to figure out if she would have any more kittens but that was the only time.

So far there are three precious kittens-all a different color. She is caring for them well and she has been fed, watered and shown the litter pan. I put them in a large, plasic tupperware tub that I used for laundrey. She seems content at the time.

My question is this, she still looks pregnant. How will I know if she is done. I always thought animals who had just given birth looked skinny and starved. She still looks bloated to me. I am worried that when I picked her up to bring her in I did something somehow and her labor stopped.

She has not seen the vet yet but I will be calling to see if he thinks she needs to be examined. I am new at this. I have 4 children and did not worry this much over my own births.

Thanks again- any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations!

I've heard that sometimes cats can take a long break between kittens, even 24 hours. I'm not really an expert on the subject. Can you ring your vet and ask them? Maybe they can make a house call and have her checked?

By the way, I'm moving the thread to the health forum.

Dear Kathy,

You're such a DOLL! You made me laugh so hard after reading that! Yes, my cat had 2 more the next day, it must've been about 15 hours later. YIKES huh?

Bless You & Yours!

I moved this from the Lounge to the Health & Nutrition forum. Hope that's alright...I think you will get more responses here!

Yeah, it is hard because they can't talk to you. I did the same thing when we had our first litter. I am sure she is going to be fine and know just what to do. If it has been more then 24 hours, you may want to call a vet and take her in. If there is something left in there, it needs to come out. Please give an update soon!!
