Today started like any other workday.
I was waken earlier than my alarm because DH rolled over on the puppy.
A loud squeal in the morning beats any alarm I've ever heard.
So I feed the cats/puppy and get ready for work.
I was at the hair fixing part of the process when my cell phone rang.

Mom hasn't been doing well since the Dr. found cancer in her remaining breast too and she had it removed in October. She spent 7-8 days about a week later in the hospital after it when she got pnuemonia and an infection. She was really out of it most the time. They found that her blood oxygen level was low.
So she has had that little nasal tube to replace it and she has had to wear it since then. She has been going down slowly and now her kidneys have shut down today and her lungs are filling. She is very swollen from the IV fluids they were giving her for her dehydration.

I got there around 11:30 am and left at about midnight or so. I was scared to leave, but I was so exhausted from the day I had to come home for a while and try to sleep some. The Hospice nurse came in tonight and they are taking over her care starting tomorrow. They got her the Roxicodone sublingual (sp?) med started and said she can have what looked like 1-2cc every 2 hours. We can't really tell how much pain she is having. She is not really jittery but a little more than calm. Her breathing is getting harder, you can see that. She was downgraded to NPO so nothing by mouth. She has no rescucitation orders. But now she has no IV fluids, and no food unless the Hospice nurse decides start her back on it.

I have to get some sleep, so I will probably check in with an update as soon as I can.

Please send prayers her way for a peaceful way out!
I don't think it is sinking in for me yet ...... kinda scared what I will do when it does.

Her name is Joann Purdie

Oh geez, I'm sorry, I don't know what to say.

I can only imagine how hard it must be to prepare for this sort of thing. I send you and your family all the best through this difficult time

Prayers and thoughts for your mother and your family.
Can't say that I've been there, but with my mother's increasingly poor health, I've been expecting 'the call' nearly any day.

May peace settle over your mother and a strong will over you and yours.

Sending mega prayers that your mother has a peaceful passing. These situations are so difficult; my close friend's father was taken by cancer last year, and while it was hard on the family, it was also a blessing that he spent his last days in the calm and peace of his own home, surrounded by loved ones. May many angels greet your mother on the other side, and take her to meet her ancestors and the descendants who have yet to be born.
