I was just wondering if anyone knew how long your vet suggests treating coccidia with Albon for? Mine says for 10 days(1st dose, then 1/2 that for 9 more days). However, there is an insert in the box that the Albon came in that says 3-5 days is suffiecient. I'm going with the 10 days, but just wondered(for the shelter-$$wise) if you can really treat coccidia for 3-5 days on Albon?

no direct experience .. but that is a nasty bug and likely the ten day is to make sure evan the weak immune systems have been 'cured"

Coccidia can be tricky to treat. I'd get a fecal after the vet's recommended dosage, and another a week later. If it's gone, good! If not, they'll need to go back on it.

3-5 days seems waaaayyy too short. Like I said, cocc. is resilient and can stick around. I'd also not do any less than 2 fecals.

Panther was on Albon but not for coccidia. She did take it for a week, I think it was. I can tell you she no adverse effects from the meds. That's all the experience I have with it.

because it can infect in various stages I would follow the directions your vet gave you. Keep giving it even when you think the kitten is okay so use it for the full ten days.
