Homemade food for cats

Hi.
I've been thinking how boring it must be to have just factory made cat food like canned and dry food all the time.
I'd like to start making some of my own food for my cat, but, basically, I don't know what exactly to make, and what to use.
Anyone have their own recipes they'd like to share?

First talk with your vet before embarking on this journey ... If you cant see eye to eye with your vet get a new one or dont try ... i speak from lots of experience I would have never made it without my vets help...

Hi and thanks.

I am not planning to completely replace canned food with homemade food, just kinda put a mix of canned/dry food, and homemade stuff.
Would I still need to ask the vet about that. It is not until later in the year that she has a check up, and I want to get started as quickly as possible.

I would if it will make up more than 10% of the daily diet

Until you get a recipe figured out, you can start by giving your cat small amounts of real food as treats. Meat, fish, eggs, yogurt and cheese make good cat treats.

Just avoid onions and anything very spicy.

meat should be pure not seasoned and NOT presevred Ie no lunch meats or perrporni type ... cheese is fine in small quanitys ( mine see cheese like once a month ... same for yougurt and make it plain( no friut) ... egg yolks are good no whites

Thank you all. I will try out all of your suggestions.
It will probably not make up 10 percent of her normal diet, so I shall hopefully start soon.
A couple of questions:
Should the eggs be raw? Or should I boil them or anything?
A lot of people I know feed human ham to their cats, and I have done it a few times. If that bad?
Do they like any vegetables? Some of the canned cat food had peas and stuff in it. Is this ok, and if so what beg should I give them, and what should I avoid?

Apparently ham (any pork) isn't good for kitties but I confess our Simba loved ham. I personally don't think a little bit now and them will harm your kitty, but I wouldn't overdo it.

From what I gather from your posts, you are just looking to provide a little once in a while treat for your kitty! Am I right there?

I have been trying some of Joe Inglis' (a well known TV vet) recipes from Your Cat magazine. My lot seem to enjoy these meals as an occasional treat between their 'run of the mill' meals!

If you'd like some, I can type them up for you

I buy Your Cat quite often, so i will look in some of the previous issues to see if I can see any recipes.
And yes, I just want to supplememt her usual diet, no major changes.
