Oh God, I don't know how much more worrying I can take.

Luxor is bound and determined to scratch his ear until it bleeds. The inside of his ear. I can't decide if it's bleeding because he never lets us cut his nails (which we have JUST done to try to help the situation) or if he has mites or something else.

Can any of you shed some light on how serious this is (e-vet) and what could be the cause? I can probably get him in on Monday or Tuesday.

Chances are he is scratching because there is an irritation. Is there any way you can get a pic of it? Is it literally in the ear only? Maia had something irritating her ear, it also was outside the ear on her forhead, but was slightly bloody and scaby. When I took her in to the vets, he said definitely not mites, some type of allergic reaction to something, should clear up. Well it did'nt, the only way it clears up is if I keep her ears clean, once a week soft tip Qtips gently. It is sometihing you don't want to chance, I would vet check, ears are important!

he's not really itching today but he seems a little blah, not lethargic. he's eating well and drinking. . .could just have a little bug? perhaps his ears were hot last night?

ohh I dont know Renovia. If its mites you can put some drops of olive oil in his ear and it will drown the mites. If its some kind of infection ...... I dont know if the olive oil will compound the situation
Sending "feel better vibes". You dont need more issues now.

I'm beginning to think it's all in my head! I worry all the time - my cats can't be THIS sick all the time. Why can't I just have one month with everyone happy go lucky? Luxor is parked right in front of the heater (as usual). I don't know what would have caused an infection. He doesn't seem 'sick' like stoli was. Just a little tired.

Dont be hard on yourself, Renovia. You have been through A LOT with Stoli and its only natural that you will look at both of your baby's more closely now. Just keep an eye on Luxor and see what is going on Monday and then decide then if he needs to go in. ((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to you, you've been through a lot lately

Well he's been playing like normal with Stoli and he hasn't scratched his ear. Perhaps he was just sleeping a lot today because that's what he normally does when I'm at work. I have been able to cut most of his claws today - tips here and there.

Luxor is going to the vet on Wednesday to have his nails trimmed and to have a medical exam just to be sure his ears are ok. . .etc.etc.

Am I neurotic????? It seems like everytime I turn around I'm taking a cat to the vet.......

If you're neturotic then so am I! I'm always taking a cat or two to the vet....

IMO, these are your kids, you should care for them as such. If you thought your skin kid had an ear infection, you'd take him/her to the vet....err...doctor. Why not do the same for the kits?

i was the same way after Mouse passed - looking at Pixel & Cable like every little thing was life-threatening. took awhile to get over, too.

GREAT NEWS! well kinda

Luxor had ear mites - don't know why or how.
We treated both Stoli and Luxor and already Luxor seems like a new cat.
He's pooping in the box now - BUT I don't like the consistency of his stool - I have some Fortiflora to see if that helps - if not we'll be switching his food.
