Will you still love me, my darling,
When we're older, and wiser, and grey?
When our skin starts to sag,
And our feet start to drag,
Tell me, will you still love me this way?

And will we still laugh and be lovers,
With our teeth in a glass by the bed?
And if I can't hear
Your soft words in my ear,
Will you shout your sweet nothings, instead?

Will we dream as if life is forever?
Will we live like each day is our last?
Will we cruise down the street,
With the world at our feet?
(Will I still say you're driving too fast?)

And will there be love ever-lasting?
Will we welcome the end, without fear?
Side by side, hand in hand,
Leave our mark on this land -
I was yours,
You were mine,
We were here

I have been lucky enough to have a few little bits published (sadly not enough to let me give up the day job!!) and love taking part in poetry readings when I get the chance.

PLEASE keep these lovely words flowing - there are some more of mine here if you'd like to have a browse
That was Awesome!!

In the meantime...here are a few more of mine...

My love comes to me from far away places
From distant valleys and familiar places
From sunlight and moonlight in heavens above
I've searched far and wide to find my true love
Morning and evening, I yearn for his touch
Soft spoken whispers that still mean so much
The west wind brings me news of his arrival
I need to have him close for my very survival.

~*~May 11, 1998~*~

Wait for me, my love, in my dreams
Where nothing really is as it seems
That's where I left you last night
I opened my eyes and you were gone from sight
What as it that we were saying?
And what sweet game were we playing?
I remember your smile, I remember your face
If only I could go back to that place
And start again from where you faded away
From my embrace at break of day.

~*~May 20th, 1998~*~

What if I said...'let's run away!'
Imagine how far we would go in a day!
Across rivers and valleys we'd roam
In that endless search for a place to call home.
I imagine its somewhere full of soft, wet places
Fields of grass covered with delicate laces
Where colours seem to go on forever
Where trees stretch upward with little endeavour.

~*~August 31st, 1998~*~

MY STAR

I like to think of the way you are
Splendid and wonderous, like a bright, shiney star
Untouchable, unsinkable...unthinkable too
Twinkling brightly in heavens of blue
Out of reach...but never out of mind
Never really knowing what you leave behind
Smiling faces filled with starry eyes
Gazing with wonder into your skies.

~*~May 11, 1998~*~

HIS WIFE

I wonder if you know just how lucky you are
You're that one special person who captured his heart
You'll forever have a place in his life
Forever to be known as his loving wife
To your children, you'll be the perfect mother
And in his heart there'll be no other
Yes I wonder if you know just how lucky you are
You've captured the brightest, shiniest star
One that has blazed a trail that will burn like fire
One that has filled many a heart with desire
Yet I know he remains ever faithful to you
You're the one who makes all his dreams come true
My head keeps telling me how much I should hate you
How with these words I write I should try to berate you
But I can't and I won't..ever, because you mean too much
I wouldn't want to be the one to crush
His heart and soul into the ground and make him sad
Because you've made him feel so happy, so glad
I hope that you're as beautiful and good as I think you should be
But I cannot deny the fact that instead I wish it was me
Who's face you'd see when you look into his eyes
This is all so futile I know, and I do realize
That for that part there can be only one star
I wonder if you know just how lucky you are.

Had a busy day with the kids today - one needing to be rushed all over the place from one activity to another, and youngest not well and ion need of love and hugs.................reminded myself of this one to get me through the hard times...........

MY CHILD

I am captive, I am helpless,
Release me for a while-
I am blinded by your eyes,
And I am dazzled by your smile

You are stars, and rain, and sunshine,
And the world is your to take -
You have made me cry with laughter,
You have caused my heart to break.

I will shoulder every hardship,
And breathe for you each breath
I will give till I have nothing
And then fight for you till death

My love is without end,
You have bewitched, I am beguiled,
My heart, my soul, my everything,
My life, my love,
My child

I did not write these, but I like them.

Do not wish to anything but who you are, and try to be that perfectly.- writer unknown.

There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm- Willa cather
( I put clam instead of calm the first time before correcting it, that part "clam" cracks me uphttp://www.thecatsite.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing02.gif)

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you have imagined- Henry David Thoreau

. Life is the little shadow which runs across the grass and looses itself in the sunset- crowfoot, last words 1890.

The future belongs to rthose who believie in the beauty of their dreams- Eleaner roosevelt

A ship port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for.-Grace Hopper.

You've got to dance like nobuddy's watching and love like its never going to hurt.- unknown writer.

These are emotional to me as well as inspiring, I get tears on my eyes as I read them.

This is wonderful. Did you write this? So sweet.

This next one is something I wrote a few years ago while looking through old photographs. I came upon one of Naomi & Alex Jr taken at a city park when we lived in Missouri. There was a stocked pond/small lake there and we'd go fishin' on weekends. There were lots of ducks & geese too & the kids liked to feed them bread crumbs and such. Anyway, this time, they ran out of crumbs and the geese were still hungry & took chase after the kids! Like any good mommy...I ran...for my camera!
I snapped this precious pick...and years later wrote this poem about it...

MEMORY

There's a place I remember
Although my memory's faded
A place in time...maybe a September
Somewhere soft & shaded.

I see two young lives, full of joy
They run and they play
My lovely little girl & my sweet boy
Together they play on that autumn day.

So much to see and so much to learn
Each day seems to hold a new surprise
But as with all things, the pages must turn
And sweet innocence gives way to the wise.

Now all that remains is the way they once were
That 'gleam in his eye' him, and that 'sweet as pie' her
And the memories I have will last for all time
Even until when they are no longer mine.

Great stuff and I'll be back to contribute (so long as you don't mind some oftentimes depressing stuff).

All of the poems here are wonderful! You are all so very talented! I especially loved the Terrible Sneeze Poem, it reminds me a lot of Shell Silverstein!

I would have to look for most of my poetry, they are stuck in notebooks here and there, but when I find them I will post some!

This one I posted on the site last year right after I wrote it, and it has to be one of my poems that means the most to me. I wrote it after I had a miscarriage in June of 2006. My due date would have been next month, so I have been thinking about it a lot lately.

I was a mommy for a moment,
a tiny slice of time,
and if only for that moment,
all the world was mine.

I never got to hold you,
or look into your eyes,
or to tell you that I loved you,
or listen for your cries.

I didn't get to buy you,
all sorts of baby things,
but now you've got much more than that
'cause now you've got your wings.

Now you're my little angel,
with your daddy's bright blue eyes
smiling down at me from Heaven
telling mommy not to cry.

This is a story about how early man might have encountered and seen Smilodon felis.

The small group had wondered far from wolf camp. Three moons had passed sense the angry leader had banished Goord to a life of struggle in the wilderness land where tribes of people were few and danger was great. At 30 Goord was getting old, his beard was starting to gray and his long matted mane thrown over a bearskin hung to his butt. A huge slash like wound made from a big cat had cripped his right arm during youth, but had become his totem... The Great Saber. His two women, Loonmooga and Sunstealth were in their mid 20's Sunsealth was expecting while Looonmooga had a four year old daughter with wild hair and five year old son with her. Many animals they had seen everything from Grizzly Bears to Great Grazing Mammoths moving like wooly carcavans over the savannah. Goord had killed two small deer with spears made from tree branches knapped and debarked from his flint knife, then blackened over by flame and had found a bees nest for his family, the women had climbed trees to snatch eggs from nesting birds and had gathered edable plants to supplement their diet but they badly needed another clan who would take them. This was to be just another night Loonmoonga compained that she was tired and the camp had settled down to make a fire and to make beds. ( top be continued i'm getting tired of writinghttp://www.thecatsite.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing02.gif

Ryan, A little poem for you For your 18th Birthday

All of these years where did they go
Seems just like yesterday, But I know that's not so.
And all this time later, No matter how Long.
My Love for you has always been strong.

You brought lots of joy like most babies do
You've made me so happy and a few times quit blue
I hope that your life is all that is grand
And I will always be there to take hold of your hand

And to be part of your life and part of your Heart
Just like you have been to me right from the start
Your a wonderful person, I know this is True
So never change who you are, Because this is you

I never thought of the years that all have gone by
But now when I do I just want to Cry
I Love you for sure I hope that you know
All of these years, Where did they go

With all of My Love Your Mammy

I also put a couple of the ones he has written in the Paws and Reflect Forum

Here's one about Quill, just a short little ditty:

Little brown cat, whatcha' looking at?

So long do you stare as I watch from this chair

As the storm rages 'round us all in grandiose form

With thunder and lightning brewing in the shadowed hall . . . .

Are you part of it all?

I'm not psychic,I just see through people
I'm sorry if this sounds a bit sad but I wrote this a couple of years ago, when I caught a feral female in a cat basket.I didn't find out till after I dropped her off for
spaying that there was a good chance she had babies
and when I took her back
she wandered round crying for what seemed like a lifetime.

I lived my life in fear at night,
my earliest memory....no daylight
waiting for hours 'till mum came back,
snuggled with kin on a dirty old sack

I hungered and cried and watched my siblings die,
Taken in the mouth of a predators eye
Why is this happening?I wish I could die!
I'm all alone my siblings gone,
No sight of my mum I'm all alone

I learned a lot from that....

Under the cats, mostly.
Money don’t buy happiness

If I had a dime
For every time
I’ve wished the wish I do
I would be a millionaire by now
But would I still have you?

One day I spent
My last few cents
On things to make me smile
And now all I have are empty pockets
And was that all worthwhile?

I learned that money don’t buy happiness
No matter how you try
Can you feel
The love you need
In all the things you buy?
I’ve known so many people
Who didn’t own a thing
Still they found it in their hearts each day
To laugh and smile and sing

So now though every vice
Has got its price
My favourite price is free
And baby that’s exactly what I get
When you give your love to me

I learned that money don’t buy happiness
No matter how you try
Can you feel
The love you need
In all the things you buy?
I’ve known so many people
Who didn’t own a thing
Still they find it in their hearts each day
To laugh and smile and sing

Yes I learned money don’t buy happiness
And happiness taught me
That though I tried to buy my happiness
My happiness bought me.

That is so sad. Every time I see a dead animal by the side of the road, I wonder if there are babies waiting for a mom who will never return.

This is a part of a novel I'm working on, Children of The Leopard. ( They are now teenagers who are becoming leopards and they watch the zoo animal with increasing intrest)

Hunger of the Hunt

For, far, far too long Somba and Saba had controlled themselves around live prey, Moving meat the Leopard children called it. It wasn't easy it wasn't fair but it was something they had to do, something that was getting harder and harder with each passiong day. A nameless pull held hostage the young ones from normality, they craved normality but as time passed and as Somba and Saba's real nature was awakened by Mother Leopards lick of love they began to belevie it was impossible.

Now here they were gettng into trouble again,at the zoo, watching the zebra, impala, kudo and gemsbok. "They look so tender" Saba said to her brother, drolling with hunger. "Yeah I know" "We should watch and wait until it gets dark then everyone will leave and we can have a little fun", Saba stated her tail lashing with excitement. "No Saba, we have raw hamburger meat waiting back at home , why dont we just eat that? The zookeepers will be angry at mom and dad",

"Dad is away in Africa and mom will never know zookeepers never see our flash of fangs and claws. Come on leopard brother I'm hungry. The children are leaving now, see. The sun is finely setting", Somba looked around him he too had become transfixed by the call of the wild. It wasn't their fualt, Nature did that to predtors as they watched moving meat. "I'm hungry too Saba but have sense the zoo police would hear the cries of our victim as we asked for the Giveaway (Indian tribes belevied that a hunter has to ask promission before killing an animal,or the animal would let them know when he/she was ready to be killed, sounds wild so I aided it for my story)
we could be shot by tranquillzer darts of danger or worse bullets" " No one is around ,come on lets kill while we can", Somba sighed there was no talking her out of it besides he really wanted to hunt smething now too. The female was fasanated by the fearful eyes and tender flanks of fun just waiting to be sinfully scratched by her morthing claws.

On the west side of... of... somewhere.
So, I wrote a novel. I'm still editing it. I bring this up now because i posted a pic request for a Siamese headshot in the Lounge...

I mentioned I may post an excerpt (namely the part 8-Bit inspired). So, here's the link. I'd rather not put it here, as it's long... the first chapter. It's sci-fi, and has a cat, a giant Meezer named Milo. (I could change his name, but I really don't feel like it, doggone it!)

FYI, there is a bit of mild language (the H word and such), so if you're sensitive to those things, don't click on the link.

If all goes well, It'll be up for sale via my website and LuLu.com by the end of June... I wanted it sooner, but my time is minimal for editing...

Let me know what you think! I want honest opinions!
