My youngest kitty, Seven (named after how many times she's been to the vet in the last 10 days
) will be going into the hospital today it seems. Her cold has gotten better yet it's been a week today since she has eaten. Eaten on her own I should say. I've given her stat, gatorade, and pedialyte but she's still not wanting to eat on her own. Last night I saw her drink water for the first time in a week too. She's been at the water bowl several times since then too. She'll sniff at the food then turn away. She was eating dry at first and since I've tried several different canned foods and even some tuna. I'm going to wait till the last possible minute today to take her.

Pic when we first got her:

Hello,
I'm having the same problem with my kitten. He seems hungry but will only eat a few bites. I have had to force feed him at times. Have you tried feeding him baby food? Mine seems to eat this better than anything else. He likes the chicken. Good luck. My kitten is now 4 months old so I've been dealing with this for what seems like forever. Just found out he also has cerebella hypoplasia. I don't know if this is part of the reason mine won't eat.

I don't know if this helps, but it worked for me.

I had a kitty (a long time ago). She was very tiny -- the smallest in the litter, and was not expected to survive. She was very timid and I don't think she was getting any nourishment while living with her siblings.

Anyway, it was imperative that I get some weight on her asap. I tried all kinds of kitten food, but she would not eat anything I put down for her. Finally, I found something that worked (at least for me). I hand-fed her little pieces of bread dipped in kitten formula. She would eat this only when I hand-fed it to her. I did this for a couple of weeks and she began to put on a little weight. She eventually began eating on her own and was fine from then on. She lived to be 17 (died 2 years ago).

I am by NO means any sort of expert, in fact I am just minorly educated in felines, but that kitten looks extrememly thin in the second picture to me. I am glad you got her to the vet, I hope she is able to pull thru.

Exactly. She's gone from like 1.7lbs to 1.3.

I am glad you got her to the vet.
She's been going to vet since I got her last Tuesday  She's been 7 out of 10 days.

I hope she is able to pull thru.
I think she's gonna be just fine. Vet seems to think so too. He's really worried because she quit eating but he's gonna pump her full of fluids and try to entice(sp?) her to eat.

I wasn't aware that she had been to the vet that many times, I normally don't read in this forum. Like I said, I hope she is feeling better soon.

Well, I was able to pick her back up Saturday morning. The attending vet said she had eaten some and they had given her fluids. Supposedly, she was heading in the right direction. Today, I come home from work early to take nap before going to a late afternoon wedding and while I'm checking on her, I notice her eyes are just covered in this horrid gray gunk. I call the emergency number to the vet and the main doctor is on call and says he'll meet me in five minutes. He takes one look at her and I can tell by his reaction that she's in bad shape. His first response was the possibility of distemper. I mentioned she hasn't been vomiting nor has she had diahrea. He said that's all good but really doesn't mean she doesn't have it. He took her temperature but she was not running a fever. Perfect reading. He thought that was odd. I left her there and will check on her tomorrow. He happened to be at the wedding me and my g/f were attending and said he will do all he can for her.

I was really positive about her getting better Thursday night but now, I really don't know what to expect.

I'm begining to think ( I really hope I'm wrong ) the other vets in the office have been trying to cover their ass for giving me a sick kitten but more to come on that later.

Oh the poor poor little kitten!!!!!! That second picture of her is just awful!!!! I am sure your vet has wormed her, so that can't be the problem either, but she is just starving to death!!! I really hope your vet can find out what is wrong with her and get her well and eating again!!! She will be in my thoughts and prayers!!! Please keep us posted!!!!!

My girlfriend went and saw her today. She also had a talk with some of the vets and let them know that we think they are giving us the run around and they need to properly care for our cat or give her back. She has many more diplomatic skills than me. Of course yesterday the kitty was dying, today she's doing fine.
I've already made arrangements for Abby to see another vet tomorrow ( I liked her original vet but it's one of those places where you may/may not see the same vet twice and it's the priciest place in town ). Several pre-vet students at my university suggested the one I'm going to tomorrow.

Seven is going to remain at her vet until I feel she needs to go somewhere else or she improves. I really believe that vet office passed along a dying kitty to me. I strongly feel that this situation could have been avoided had they properly evaluated her before letting her go home. We've taken a few measures and spoke with a few individuals about our situation and we most certainly will not allow ourselves or our kitten be abused/mistreated/or taken advantage of. If Seven recovers I'll certainly be happy. It's just not the same without her here with us.

i'm sure you've thought of this already, but is there any chance that seven was too young to go home in the first place? maybe she's missing her mom too much. also, you said she's your youngest kitty? could she be stressed if around other older cats/kittens? maybe being at a vet isn't a less stressful environment, which is why she doesn't get better there. these are just thoughts - i'm sure you've had them all already.

one of my girls was very sick at one point, and i had no idea why, and no vet seemed to be able to help her. it was one of the scariest things i've ever experienced. i will keep her and your family in my thoughts. i really hope she pulls through.
