Yeah, STILL a designer breed - not a legit one. It still mixed breed kittens and you still have lethal genes involved. IMO she has a general guideline but no real standard.

And why the name? They don't resemble dogs at all!

I agree GK. I don't like that she's using rescues (with who knows what lineage) to produce mutations like folded ears and bobtails. Nor am I a fan of breeding for polydactyls.

She shouldn't be breeding rescues. And the name is really kinda lame. Anyone who knows cats knows that there are probably more breeds that are dog-like in their behaivor than not, which kinda makes it CAT-LIKE anyway! I mean, how many breeds are there out there that like water, will follow you around, play fetch, walk on a leash, be extroverted, need to be the center of attention, etc...

How bout a list of cats that have one or more "dog-like" traits:

Cornish Rexes
Ocicats
Siamese (and balinese)
Maine Coons
Bengals
Oriental Shorthairs (and Javanese)
Abyssinians (and somalis)
Ragdolls
Burmese
Chartreux
Bombays
Devon Rexes
Egyptian Maus
Havana Browns
(I'm going down the breed list on CFA looking for these traits)
Japanese Bobtails
Manx
Siberians
Singapuras
Sphynx
Tonkinese
Turkish Angoras
Turkish Vans

And I'm sure many, many more. This was more than half the list of cats on the CFA site! (and that ONLY CFA!)

Well... I don't quite know what to say? I have never heard of that. I have heard breeds like ragdolls and others with the easy to train, and general dog like personality be refered to as "puppykatts" or dogs in cat suits, because of their personality. I hadn't realized some one has these cats they are calling puppykatts. Thanks for posting the link, I am interested in finding more about them. (Not because I am interested in them or having one, either)

After checking out the site I wanted to come back and say something coherent, but I'm just really confused.
God only knows what type of life those rescues had before she decided to breed them. They could of been the victim of overbreeding by design or just living wild. And now they're potentially being subjugated to it again by someone who is suppose to be rescuing them.
And she said that she doesn't like being referred to as a breeder?!?!
And it was just really peculiar to see such a defensive stance on a website. I just don't know. I'm kind of weirded out.

Don't know the answer to your first question, and I'm only speculating as to the answer of your second question, but I believe tea-cup persians are miniaturized versions of the cat (like toy poodles, but I think there are tea-cup poodles that are even smaller).

I was looking at that site with the tea cup persians. They are miniature sized. They have really really short legs.

I'm sorry... REFR???? Isn't that mainly for hybrids???
Boy... they are really stretching it, aren't they?!?!

Edit: Okay, I looked it up... I guess they recognize other breeds as well. But notice how Cozy Kittens isn't registered with ACFA, CFA, or TICA.

Thanks.

It seems a bit odd that most breeds of cat seem to be listed there (ie those that are neither rare nor exotic) along with these so called puppykats. The cynic in me thinks they are only there as an attempt to give credibility to the "breeds" such as puppykats.

o my i just went to the puppykat website, and I am just lost for words, she took 2 rescues and they mated a manx, which is already known for its "dog like" personality and I know that first hand
and I am not sure about scottish folds, I just cant believe that they are recognizing this, and i also read the article well one of them so far and shes breeding all different kinds of breeds "because looks dont matter" to her, but wouldnt she want to look the history up on each breed and learn this and she doesnt even know the lines or the risks that each cat can have and everything, and this is just making me so
and if it was the manx and the scottish fold that started "the breed" how can she go and breed other different breeds and which is she breeding with which, man people these days and new breeds!! ! I just dont understand she is all for rescueing but by breeding these rescue cats isnt she causing more kitties not to get homes if she got the cats to breed from rescues
and she is just one contridicting lady, and i am reading her letter to those who "oppose her" and i am speechless !!! I am just so surprised that u cna make a breed with over 25 different types of breeds but she uses three main ones, but what abou the other ones she uses and i just doont know she isnt making a lot of sense and like others have said and I have said she is contradicting herself alot, and why does she feel the need to defend herself i just dont understand this woman, people these days

what is lax breeding regulations ? I just read the second article and she wants to get that changed?????

What was the "name" of the breed of cat the guy in California created and sold their mail order catalog (Neiman-Marcus) about 10 yrs ago? He put a bunch of different cats together and was trying to make it a designer breed.

Similar situation? For one thing you don't even WANT to be mixing the Fold and Manx genes together as both are lethel genes involved and you have to know wht you are doing!
