Okay, so Brian and I have been quasi arguing all day over a name for our new kitten.

Because of her rarity of being a female orange tabby, and that she is a four pawed polydactyl, which is technically a mutation/defect, he wanted to name her Pickled Punk, and affectionately call her Pickle. I thought Pickle was a cute name until I looked up "pickled punk" on the internet. Please don't look this up if you are sensitive to .... ummm ... well ... bad images.

Anyway, it freaked me out. I can't associate my cat with those images. We argued back and forth, and now agree that we will both toss names in until we find one we agree on.

I would like to have something that means something. I've come up with:

Monroe - named after Marilyn Monroe. A bombshell beauty who was fabled to have an extra toe. Not true.

Boleyn - Anne Boleyn had extra fingers. Its a historical fact.

Rugen - Not that feminine, but Princess Bride was one of my fave movies. Count Rugen was the six-fingered man.

Sedaris - David Sedaris, the writer, was also fabled to have extra toes. Not true.

Hobbes - After Calvin and Hobbes.

Other names that I just liked are Sydney, Gwen, Phoebe, and Zoey.

Any other ideas?

How about Bast?

Bast is the ancient Egyptian cat-godess. She was the patron of the sun, moon (Greeks), cats, women and secrets.

Brian nixed Willow right away. He said one cat named after Buffy - yes, two - not so much.

He nixed Boleyn too. Said if he can't have Pickle, I can't name her after a woman who was beheaded.

We're getting there.... We WILL both agree on a name before this is over!

He said he likes Sydney, Gwen, and Zoey, but none of those names "mean anything" like our other sugggestions.

While I like Tori Amos, I've known a couple of Tori's that have given me an aversion to the name. Isn't it horrible how one bad person can ruin a name for you forever?

I've given him a couple more suggestions of famous redheads.

Leeloo - from the movie the 5th Element

Phoenix - from X-Men

Ohhhh... I like Leeloo! That would make a wonderful name for a special little girl. And besides, she saved the world!

That's exactly what I thought! I couldn't believe I didn't think of that one sooner. I hope he likes it too. He and I both can quote the words to that movie.
