I know someone who's cousin tried to audition and the basic gist of it is if you aren't good for ratings Ie: comical (like the juggler or wookie), good (didn't see any really) or have a dramatic life (like the crack baby)... then you won't make it very far at all.
The audition part is really weird, I really thought the girl that I knew would have gotten thru, she was actually good!

There wasn't anyone that I saw last night that made it thru that really blew me away- I'm still waiting for Chris Daughtry hottie (although that "rocker" kid who claimed to have his voice
drove me NUTS!) I was yelling at the TV to have him fix his shirt! His collar was 1/2 ways down his back! UGH!
I thought it was funny they had him sing an Abba song

He was a little annoying but in a cute hopefull way. And I had to give him some credit for actually learning and doing the ABBA song.

Didn't Simon say he liked him? I thought that was weird-I thought he would hate him!

He bothered me too. It made my throat hurt listening to him.

Maybe she just hated Jewel?
Brian and I were watching it last night and he thinks that maybe they're trying Jewel out to replace Paula. Since Paula can be so...ummm....how do I put it lightly...cracked out of her mind sometimes? If Paula suspected that as well, or knows that, that could make for some bad blood between the two of them.

I did think it was weird that they already had a guest judge for the auditions- they've never done that before, have they?

Yes, they have. One year they had Mark McGrath, Gene Simmons, and Brandy.

I wonder who else will be guest judges this year??

an ice cube in Iowa...
Yeah, I recorded it too...

I'm not sure that this round of auditions was as funny for me as some of the previous seasons. No one really made me pee my pants as they did in some of the other seasons, not even the cowardly lion girl...although she was one of the better highlights of the evening. And none of the 17 finalists really blew me away, either...except Desiree (was that her name...drug-addicted mom?) - she was amazing!

For me, the best part of the show are the auditions, and I personally enjoy the crappier ones over the decent performers, any day. Just watching some of Simon's reactions makes my little world go 'round!

My fave from last night was the girl with really long dark curly hair that sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I thought she was really good. I can't remember her name though...
