I was at work and we had taken our garbage out and on our way back I heard this whinning and I could tell it was a dog and it was at the house across the street and my aunt is neighbors with that man and is always complaining about that poor dog crying like noone loves on him. Well tonight I heard him and you could tell that it was a distress cry and you could tell that he was shivering when he was crying. and I think that's unacceptable. Although I am afraid of calling because our shelter is a VERY high kill one. and there isn't any others around we have a pet lovers united around here but they never answer their phones when you call them and they never call you back when you leave a message. So I don't know whatelse to do but to call the shelter.

The cops in my town won't do anything about it.

except our animal control works with the cops, and from what I hear in my area is not that good
we do have non kill shelters around though about 3 or more, more and more people are opening shelters up
for all these poor babies !!! But is the dog dangerous ? Because at least if u get him out of that situation there can be a huge thing to get him adopted out, or maybe u can find a private rescuer if he isnt danger, I went on petfinder and I was shocked how many more shelters and such were there ! So maybe see whats around ur area and look in favor of keeping the doggy from being killed

Well, that's a dreadful shame but I think calling the shelter is your best option. Even if it's a high-kill shelter, there's a good chance this dog will find a loving home and if not, well, this sounds awful but I think the dog is probably better off playing over the Rainbow Bridge than enduring that kind of suffering.

I would call animal control. At least they'll go in there and see if anything is wrong. If the conditions are bad enough that they have to take him, he's better off risking euthanasia than dieing a slow painful death in that place.

I am going to see the animal control in my town tomorrow. There is a dog on the back street that has been crying this afternoon. I have been to see the animal control about these people once already. And this is a little weeny dog too.

I never call them people,I just go see them, that way they know what I look like when I am raising cain about what ever I am raising cain about.

Is the dog outside? Or inside? I'd try to find out more before calling the authorities, as the dog may be suffering from separation anxiety. We went through that with one dog after moving. For several months, whenever he was left alone in the house, even for just half an hour, he would whine, howl, yelp, etc.. Current neighbors of ours went through the same thing with a dog adopted from the pound, only it took him almost three years, and lots of behavioral therapy, to get over it.

Well I did go see the dog pound people, they came out, then they stopped and told me they didn't see anything but a little black weeny dog. They gave me their card and told me to call if I heard the crying again.

They hadn't been gone but just a few minutes and I heard the crying again. So I called them and told them just to come to my house and see if they heard it. So they did. They went back over there and found a little puppy inside a pet taxi with no food or water, they couldn't get anyone to come to the door, so they took the puppy, they told me they really didn't want the people to know that they got it.

But they said they could take the puppy anyways and get the people on inhumane treatment cause it didn't have food or water.

I feel better now knowing that the puppy will at least be safe tonight.

And I went outside a little while ago and it was so quiet, I was so glad not to hear that poor puppy crying.
