Molly, my newest family member, has had loose stools for basically the last week. I brought her home Jan 6th. I didn't have any Purina Cat Chow to keep her on & forgot to buy any, so I cold turkey switched her to Chicken Soup. She is also on Clavamox for a UTI, as well as Terramycin for eye goopies. I noticed last night that there were two spots where it looked like she had been laying & had "dribbled" poop(as though she didn't wake up fast enough to get to the box). There was one more this morning. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow(to get her eye looked at)....I have been debating a fecal exam. I know she doesn't have worms(been dewormed 3x while at shelter). If she had coccidia/giardia or soemthing of that nature it would've showed up within the 2+ months she's been at the shelter.
Can Clavamox cause loose stools? Could it still be the food change upsetting her digestive tract? Could the UTI be causing loose stools? I will be mentioning to the vet that she has had what appear to be "night-time accidents" to see what he thinks. She also has always had very poor literbox aim....most of everything ends up smeared on the floor, so it'll be hard to get a stool sample unless I can catch her in the act & well, basically catch it as it falls.
That's why I'm debating the fecal exam as it will be hard to get "clean" poo.
