I was just vacuuming, and when I went to turn it off..it turned off...then sprang back to life in the OFF POSITION
I tried turning it into the on position and then back into the off position..nothing , it stayed on. I had to unplug it for it to turn off.

It is a brand new vacuum, I have maybe used it 7 times

Now if you could get the vacuum to vacuum the floor by itself, you're in business!

Also send part of the demon to me too...I would like a possessed vacuum.

YIKES!

Do you have a warranty? Sounds like there's a short in it or something?

How long have you had it? I would check for a warranty and explain your situation to them!
Espeically if you've only used it a handful of times.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
I think I'd take it back and tell them what it's doing. That's scary. I mean it could catch on fire or something. They should honor your purchase even though you don't have a receipt, at least I'd think they would.

Take it back, Nat! Canadian Tire is usually pretty good about doing exchanges. Do you have your receipt?

OMG, you should talk to my husband about taking things back to Crappy. that guy buys and returns there on a weekly basis, I swear!
If it's less than 90 days, no problem.
If you don't have the reciept, they'll issue you store credit. Some stores make you spend that credit on the same day, others it lasts for a while.

Side story - we were standing in line at Canadian Tire a few years back and this guy in front of us was trying to return his vacuum. It was so obviously old, like ten years old and beat up and crappy, and to top it off, CT never stocked that brand to begin with. We were howling! I can't believe the nerve of some people. Even DH wouldn't try that!

Normally your receipt is proof enough. The warranty is probably online on the manufacturer's website too...

The receipt is more important than the warranty because it proves when you purchased it. Have you found the receipt? Otherwise you may have to do the exorcism.
