2 more days! Monday I have an appointment get out my hand stitches and I can't wait. I'm tired of wearing this wrist splint and especially having to go through a whole pre-shower process every morning which includes ripping off half the hair on my arm when I take off my band-aids (I don't HAVE to wear them, but I feel more comfortable with them).

Plus I want to drive again. I miss little things like just going out to the store or driving to drop off a bill. I'm tired of having to make my wife get me ice cream *lol*

Then, and I can't remember if I mentioned this in my other thread, but I'll have 10 days of wrist freedom. On the 26th I have to go through this all over again and get surgery on my right hand which I'm SURE will be loads of fun considering I'm right handed.

I'll keep everyone posted

(vibes) Stitches are no fun! I hope your hand heals soon and the next surgery goes well
(oh- and from a little experience- try both feet in huge boot casts at the same time
) put plastic bags over the part you don't wanna get wet and tie them so the water can't get through-that way you can bathe without getting the bandages wet or ripping off all your skin

I did the plastic bag thing for the first few days when I had a dressing/half cast/ace bandage on. Now I can get the stitches lightly wet in the shower and just dry them gently when I get out. I put the band-aids on over the stitches, and then wrap alittle cotten gauze around the areas before I put the splint on. Just for extra comfort. I could technically wear nothing except the splint but that creeps me out
I prefer to change the bandages every morning to give the areas some air and to make sure I'm still held together

Yes it will be. I'm not sure of what type of rehab I'll have to give it after the stitches. I know I'm still having some pain which is normal, and my wrist has seized up a bit. I can tell it's not going to want to bend easily.

Bummer! I hope you heal soon! was in your boat a year ago. I had carpal tunnel surgery done on my wrist of my left hand and it was terrible. I was messed up for 6 weeks! I am left handed so it was even worse for me. On top of it, they made me go back to work even though I couldn't do anything, (not that I minded, I liked being paid for doing nothing) I can't believe you're going to do both hands! I told them forget it after the problems with the one!

I hear so many people that have problems with the surgery I didn't have a bit of problem, I had the right one doe then 30 days later the left, they never hurt ever after that not even from the surgery, Best thing I ever did in my life. I never had any kind of therapy after surgery either.
Mine were so bad and so numb and they hurt so bad all the way to my shoulders I would wake up every night sit in the floor in the bathroom and cry my heart out till I had it done.
I think I had an amazing Dr he was an Ortho Dr and he was in his 70s when he did it, I feel lucky that it turned out so great

I had the endoscopic surgery so I only have a small incision about an inch and a 1/2 long on my palm and at the base of my wrist. Recovery is only about 10 days. Hopefully not much longer after the stitches come out.
