Does anyone use Silica litter, such as Fresh Step Crystals? They sound like a good idea (don't have to scoop clumping liquids, only solids) but I'd like to hear some people's opinions on them.

I use the Fresh Step Crystals. I love it because it's so much less dusty than clay litter, and easier to clean. Two of my cats use it, but the other will not, so I still have one box with clumping litter.

I've found they don't last very long. Even when I remember to stir it, everything seems to seep through to the bottom, and it gets gross pretty quickly.

What brand did you use?

I tried them because I wanted to go low dust....my boy kitty has asthma.

Sadie, put her paw in them, they went crunch, she freaked, then neither of my kitties would go near them.

That was the end of that experiment.

I honestly don't remember--it was some generic branded thing from the grocery store. I'd tried them before with a more expensive version, but had a similar problem.
