I have a male solid black Main Coon -JD. He is 10 months old. I got a call to foster another male Main Coon -Nicco. (Both neutered) I brought him home yesterday. At first JD just hised and spat at him. So I made Nicco a little excluded pad in the shower. Today JD has been searching Nicco out. Right now they are both under my bed. No hissing, just sniffing. I have never had more then 1 cat and wantto know if his is a good sign. My other concern is that Nicco has not eaten since he has been here. I gave him his seperate food, but he has not eaten a thing. Is this normal?? Is there anything I can do to encourage the good bonding of both cats?

It's normal (the not eating or even not using the box for a couple of days), but get another box for Nicco, or risk possible messing. They sound like they're either at a stalemate, in which case they may have a big fight (which you should stay out of short of spraying water if it gets serious), or else they've become friends, which is terrific!

UPDATE**** Nicco is eating. have them both in the bathroom and they are just sniffing one another. Nicco really wants to be affectionate with JD. And I think that JD will give in. I doubt that they will fight. JD spent most of the afternoon staying a foot from Nicco. They are both very laid back cats - typical Main Coon - and I feel that they will be fast friends. I just don't want to do anything to harm the "natural" bonding. But suggestions to help them along would be great.
