I've got a 15 year old tabby cat who has been wonderful for so many years! Recently (last couple months) she's been waking us up at all early hours of the morning. We think she's hungry, so we feed her. But say we feed her because she's crying at 3:30am, she'll cry again at 5:30 or 7:00, like she never ate the first time! It's been very aggrevating because now we can't get a good night's rest! Is our cat just loosing her mind? We've even started feeding her at night before we go to bed, and in the morning. It doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Has she been to the vet for a senior blood panel recently? With her advancing years it could be diabetes or thyroid problems, definitely needs to be checked out as she shouldn't be getting hungry that often.

Older cats sometimes get a bit disorientated and confused - she may be waking up confused about where she is and so cries. I'd take her to the vet for a check up and a blood panel if she's not had one done recently.

I've heard that cats that get older (my oldest is almost 18) get a version of Kitty Alzheimers's (there is a technical name for it) they can forget where they are, why they went into a different room etc...

I've read that this can be a sign of dementia in cats. Worst case scenario.
