Mornin
I'll tell ya...some mornings you just wish you could make the kitties disappear for a couple hours.
I haven't been feeling quite right for a couple days now (can't shake this chill regardless of my overly warm apartment, sweatpants and warm showers/baths). So last night I turned up the heat a bit, took a shower, put on flannel and a long sleeved shirt and went to bed.
Chester woke me up this morning at his regular time of 7am screaming for breakfast. If you don't get up and feed him when he requests he doesn't stop...He'll scream; he'll jump on your face (15lbs of kitty); and his favourite is to lay infront of your face and lick it, spitting out every hair in the process until you open one eye and then he gets excited and start the yelling again. I got up and fed the rascals.
Thing is that it doesn't stop after I feed them (which it used to, before we moved). I closed the door behind me so I could have some sleep time and chester stood at the door for an entire half hour yelling for me. I got so I was worried that the neighbors would think I had bad cats and let them in. Then Chester spent the next 2 hours either jumping up on me to get to the window above my bed or hollering every time I rolled over trying to get "2nd breakfast", which he's never gotten but thinks he should. Dynah got up on my nightstand to play with the controller for my blinds (I can't tie them back, they're the kind with a pully mechanism and I need to get at them)...which bugs me a lot. THEN (and this is the kicker) she managed to hull back and knock EVERYTHING off of my nightstand, including my booda. THEN she jumped down, looked at it like "that was fun" and jumped in my garbage to try to find the worst thing she could play with out of there.
If i lock them out, chester cries. *sigh* I'm never getting a good nights sleep again.
May the force be with you
Jess

Sorry to hear that. We all go through it though. I was woken up at 5:30 this morning when my wife got up and couldn't fall back to sleep because Reeses kept pawing at my hand/sheets and wouldn't leave me alone. If I shut the door she'll scratch until her claws are down to a nub so that was out..

I had the opposite problem today, which is unusual. After feeding the cats at 5a or so I went back to bed until 6. Usually after eating Bob will come and take over my pillow. He didn't this morning and I had forgotten to set the alarm clock. I woke up at 7:35. The cats were sitting in the living room like nothing happened!

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It sounds like the nasty flu!

As for kitties.. I can totally relate! I have 2 and they are quite insistent when it comes to getting cuddles and/or breakfast. You would think I never fed them the way they act when their dishes are empty.

When I'm not feeling well and need to take to my bed to try and sleep, I usually fill up my cats' dishes so that they have enough food for the whole day or even the next. If they want to gorge themselves I'm ok with that, so long as they let me sleep!

I feel your pain. Natasha decided this morning at 5:30 AM she needed some attention. She started meowing and wailing like she was dying. I jumped out of bed thinking she was sick-but no just headbutting and wanting some petting. As grateful as I was she was ok, I started thinking who's in charge around here anyway. The answer of course is the cats!

oh the cats are always in charge. I think that's why we love them so much.

I was talking with a lady at curves today while I was working out and she said that one of her 5 cats actually makes barfing sounds to get her out of bed, because he knows she'll get up to clean it (doesn't actually barf though)...talk about a drama queen!

Yup, we get that at my house in the mornings too. I no longer set my alarm because litterally seconds before it goes off (no matter when I hit the snooze) Duke starts screaming at me. If I don't get up right away, he starts scratching at the foot of the bed, which he KNOWS is a NO NO! So that I don't reward that behaivor, I'll wait a while before I get up. He'll then pounce on my head and knead/chew on my hair. Then I duck under the covers and he crawls under and tucks himself under my arm, insisting on petting while purring loud enough to wake the neighbors! Then when I finally get up, bleary eyed and unbalanced, he winds through my feet all the way to the kitchen, yelping at me the whole time. And if he didn't wake up the neighbors with his purring just minutes before, his stereotypical meezer yowling while I'm putting food in his bowl surely does!

*sigh* and to think, I'm getting two more kittens next week!!!

the crazy thing is Natasha wasn't even looking for food just affection. And to think I complained when I first got her that she wouldn't let me pet her-now she is acts like if I not petting her she is an affection starved kitty. Be careful what you wish for.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

We have been very blessed with two very well behaved kitties. Trent and Ophelia have never been the types to be naughty to wake us up. Trent will cry, but that's only if we're still in bed by around 11:00.

Then we went and pushed our luck and got two more girlies. Ginger wakes us up by playing "Munsterz Under the Blankie" and doing her best to stick a claw into our feet.
Mojo wakes me up by nuzzling and kneading my neck. At 2:00 in the morning. And I can't sleep through it because she apparently has to wiggle and flop while she's doing it, which requires me to move my head and she tells me where to move by shoving her head into my chin in the direction she wants it to move. But it's sweet so of course I can't stop her.

At least they don't yowl... *knocks on wood*
