This memorial is for the little rat who had been abandoned at the bus station and lived for two whole years there. I'm pretty sure he's gone now to a better place. The first time I saw him I couldn't believe my eyes; a black and white domestic rat scooting out from the rosebushes to forage in the garbage. When I did see him I would dig around my bag for some food, anything at all for him; Friends did this for the rat as well, so he was reasonably well fed. Sometimes I would walk down to the bus stop and there would be shredded paper at the burrow that someone had left for the rat.

I still can't believe he lived for so long under the rosebushes, in the summer and in the winter time. I can see his little trail of seeds/crumbs in the snow, and it breaks my heart to think that he died so lonely. Every time I'm at the bus stop I still look for his burrow, for any sign of him, but I think he's gone over the Bridge.

Rest in peace, sweet rat.

aww, bless the little mite. It did sounds like he was a happy thing though, what a place to be, with rose bushes and an occasional visitor that would give him a bite to eat.

Bless the little guy. Rats can make good pets, sad that someone abandoned this one. Nice of you and your friends to give him the treats and care.

Poor little baby! Rest in peace - you're one of God's creatures and can play happily and safely over the bridge.
