I know... DH was a bit upset about the price, but when I told him that we'd never have to replace it he was fine with it.

I am slowly going to replace everything we have with it. It may take me forever, but one day I will have nothing but Le Creuset cookware.

Isn't it pretty? I'm not fond of simple black cookware. It's one of their classic colors so I'll be able to get everything to match!

I love LeCreuset. We have two and just love doing chili or stew on cold afternoon. It holds the heat beautifully. I know you will enjoy it.

Congrats! It's always great to get something new, and especially kitchen stuff!

If you like to cook you definitely need good cookware, it makes all the difference.

As for the price, I believe you get exactly what you pay for. If you buy cheap stuff you will be replacing it a number of times over the course of your life. If you buy something of quality that item will last you a very long time.

In my 20's and part of my 30's I had cheap aluminum pots and kitchen utensils. I was always having to replace them because of a broken handle, or peeling coating etc. Finally I went and bought an expensive set of stainless steel pots when "The Bay" had a 1/2 price sale and it was the best thing I ever did. I now have good quality stainless steel cookware that goes from stove to oven and now I find cooking somewhat enjoyable.

One thing you should get if you haven't got one already, is a slow cooker or "crock pot" I think they're called in some places. I have one and it's great to put something into it in the morning and come home after work to a hot meal that has simmered all day. You can make all kinds of things in a slow cooker from cakes to soups to roasts to stews etc.

I have another "brand" of a dutch oven made out of similar material!! I had a Williams Sonoma Le Crueset Bistro pan on the christmas list-alas it wasn't under the tree. I have mainly Calphalon (sorry spelling) as my cooking-slowly adding pieces. Have fun with your new piece!!

There's no place like home
I have a lot of Wolfgang Puck cookware that I got for Christmas a few years ago. My friend, a chef, recommended it to us. I got a huge dutch oven for Christmas this year from hubby. It's stainless, about 10 quart and 12 inches in diameter and made by Master Chef (another recommendation). I was eyeing the one you got cause I really liked the colors, but I'll take what I got.
