We have a stray cat at the shelter who is getting put up for adoption tomorrow. I have the joy of naming her, cause I can't adopt her. lol..

So she looks like a maine coon. She is a brown tabby. She is super pretty and gives you kisses on your hand.

She only has three legs. One of her hind legs looks to be amputated, but not so sure because it's only half there. Vet's usually take the whole thing.

So help me out! Think of a name..I am stumped!

I'm sorry - all I could think of was Bob! That's so nuts. Anyone serious out there that has some good Maine Coon names?

I am so sorry if this is a real cliché, but I would call a 3-legged cat 'Tripod'
It is such a cute name anyway, but doesn't work for a 4-legged cat.

How about Trio?? That's the name of the resident kitty at the shelter I volunteer at (and yes, she only has 3 legs, although to watch her run around and play you wouldn't know it!!).

Maybe it would be nice to name her something that is associated with three, like "Neptune," who carried a trident. I guess that's not a girl's name, though, since he was a god.

Cheers, from

I would need to see a picture of him/her before I can decide on a name.

I like those.

Or three-legged is called Sláine, which means health and is a fictional warrior's name. We also call her Lady Three-Paws.

I don't like naming something that is gonna call attention to her three legs. I think it might hurt her feelings. I think she should have a name that does not bring attention to that.

I just think it would be making fun of her.

I think the name Peg is pretty though.

I don't think having three legs makes that much difference to a cat, and if you call attention to her disability, it might make it harder for her to find a home. Maybe you could pick out a name that fits her personality instead???????

Tippy is awesome!! If she's got a nice personality then missing a leg won't matter. If anything, people will feel sorry for her and be more likely to check her out.

That's the name my niece gave her 3-legged cat.
