Hey
I've got a problem. A stinky microwave related problem to be exact.

My microwave was given to me by a woman who's son used it in his dorm to make popcorn. It is a nice one, with the only downside having a slightly stained yellow inside (from the popcorn). Unfortunately, I managed to burn my popcorn very thoroughly the other night, adding to the stain...and creating an awful smell. I thought that the smell would disipate over time, but it doesn't seem to be doing so...it's been a couple days now and every time I open my microwave I get a blast of burnt popcorn smell

SO I've tried a glass of water with lemon juice in it for 10 minutes, and some soapy water (dish detergent). My mom's microwave rusted when she used vinager, so I don't want to try that one.

Any ideas on how to de-stink a mircowave?

Baking soda is very good for removing smells and stains, you can sprinkle some right in the microwave and whipe/scrub the inside with a damp rag. Instead of a cup of lemon juice and water you can try microwaving a cup of baking soda and water as well.

You can also stick a cup of vinegar in there and microwave for a minute. It not only will take the smell away but any food debris will wipe right off.

Yeah, my mom said the same thing as you guys, so I'm going to get some vinager tomorrow and give it a shot.
Thanks folks!
