Can anybody honestly say that big oil is not price gouging???

Look at this article. If the price of crude is dropping so rapidly, then why is the retail price of gasoline going up again??????? There is a monopoly, and a wink and a nod by the oil companies to each other to keep the price of gas artificially high. I am not a "Big Government" person, but the federal gov't needs to step in here somehow, and make these greedy pigs understand that monopolies and price fixing are against the anti-trust laws of the US, and send somebody to jail. This is disgusting IMHO.

I hate oil companies And I hate that I have to have a car to get around this huge city....because when it comes down to it i have to have gas for it to run....and eithor way, those jerks are going to make a profit off of me and everyone else who cannot afford their outrageous prices! And it's even worse in some other countries! It's just pathetic is what it is.

This is what my COO told me. He has a brother that is in the big oil business.

He says that even though the price of crude oil is inexpensive, there are many many hoops that big oil needs to jump in order to refine it enough so that it meets environmental standards and is refined enough for us to breath during the winter in our homes.

So....if we stopped caring about the environment we could have cheap gas again.

If we stopped using petroleum like it were the blood of our country, we wouldn't have to worry about it at all.

If you don't want to pay for gas, DON'T. It's simple economics, really... the demand is there regardless of the price, so pretty much the oil and gas companies have us by the tight ones and can charge anything they want. Because you'll still pay it. Because we are so dependent on oil that people actually panic about it.

Gasoline is a luxury, and one that is destroying our planet and our health. And in many cases, our finances. But somehow most Americans have been convinced that it is a necessity right up there with water and shelter.

Around here gas IS essential. We don't have a public transportations system that is set up like most other cities.

There is no "train" or "subway" here. The buses only run locally (East side) and for me to get to work I have to pay for gas. This was more or less a guarantee to keep "The Big Three" in business.

This is what we need though. Last I heard he's currently working on getting this government approved:

We can have clean energy, the reason we don't is the oil company, and car manufactuerers lobbyists. It is not in their best interest to develop clean fuel, because it would cost them too much in conversion and start up. They would rather rape and the pollute the earth until it is too late, and use our greed for oil as an excuse. It is their greed for money. The present administraion is the most guilty of this thus far, considering the Bush family is in the oil business. They will destroy every inch of natural wildlilfe habitat to get the last drop of oil. To hell with the native wildlife and plants. Too hell with oxygen, to hell with lakes and water. You can't even eat Tuna now, it is so polluted with mercury. The hell with our enviorment. MONEY!!!! at any cost. Yes we will consume energy because we need it to survive, but it is possible to have alternative, affordable energy that we would use as well, but it is not available for the above reasons.
