Is that awful that I said that? What am I supposed to do when a client doesn't let me finish??

Anyway, I felt silly after because I should learn to contain myself I guess
I wouldn't stress about it. Everyone makes mistakes especially in difficult situations.

That said, I'd assume that the insurance business is huge on good customer service. That's probably one of the biggest things that differentiate one company from another for the average consumer.

No no no! I'm sure you are wonderful! I'm just saying that in that moment in time, you may have let what a normal person would say slip through instead of a kiss-ass customer service specialist.

I would have probably told her to STFU.

Nat, the thing in the whole world that ticks me off more than anything else, is people who ask a question, having decided what the answer must be, and as a result cannot hear anything else, even if they DO wait for the words to be spoken. Every so often, despite one's best efforts to be patient in such a situation, something snaps. I think she should be grateful that the effect was not worse.
You, my dear, are NOT a SCHMUCK. So there.

I can totally relate Natalie, and I think you did what you had to do in the situation.

The difference with me is I have permission from my boss to give a little lip to a percentage of our clients. But I kind of have to. I'm the only woman in management at our office, and honestly I think I'm the only woman who has ever made it into management at our office.

All of our clients are men who grew up overseas, predominantly in countries where women are never in power positions and a man never takes what a woman says seriously. Needless to say sometimes I have to spout off a bit and be firm to make them listen to me. Even then it sometimes doesn't work.

Whats nice is they're all pretty short so when they come into the office I can be pretty commanding looming over them telling them what I need for them to do at 5' 11". Sometimes being tall rocks.
