Your motto...

...do you have one?

I never really did before a couple of years ago. I used to think that there wasn't really any one phrase that could define my life's philosophy. But over time one particular old adage sprung to mind more and more, and it's something that I heartily agree with and try to stand by at all times.

`You reap what you sow'.

If anyone asked me what my motto in life is, that would be it.

Anyone else?

I am a big peddler of "You only live once, so make it a good one"

I always say it to people who are miserable in their relationships...thats how I finally broke up with my ex..I realized..."uh, I only have one life, and I am spending it not as happy as I could be?"...Screw that I said

Hmmm, I gotta pick just one???

Either "Don't sweat the petty things, pet the sweaty things." or "Don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out of it alive."

No Vacancy...One on the way!
What goes around will come around.
My mom always made sure I understood that and considered what I was dishing out before i dished it.

I guess mine is still taking shape, but basically I'm always thinking about attitude, a glass half empty or half full. Maybe 'You get what you expect' is along the right lines.

My Mom gave me this one when I was 19 and moving out of the house:

Life is too short for itchy sweaters and shoes that don't fit.

I've found that to be true.

I can't narrow it down to one off the top of my head. I'd have to think about it for a while.

I do know some Dave Matthews Band lyrics that I have quoted in signatures, etc.

"Celebrate we will because life is short but sweet for certain"

Dave quotes the Bible in one of his songs "Eat, drink, and be merry" then goes on to say "For tomorrow we die" which can be taken in the same way as the first quote.

Meh..... I'm sure I could think of some better words to live by.

Actually, there are a lot of songs out there that I would take lyrics from as mottos - soo many good ones.

One that comes to mind is, `It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees' - Midnight Oil

YEAH

"He Likes it! Mikey Likes It!" (get someone else to do something for you)

I don't really use them any more...but the one I use to use was:

"If you have an opportunity that you think you'll regret missing out on, take it"

I wouldn't change much of my life because of that.

There's no place like home
From my mom:
When the going gets rough, the tough do laundry.

From my husband:
Life is too short to drink cheap booze.

From my brother:
Don't push the river, it will flow by itself.

And my personal one:
When you smile people don't really know what you are thinking.
