Woa, that is positively chilling.

Since I was only 9 back in 1987, what was the whole Oliver North thing about?

Oliver North was a very high ranking Marine who was involved in Reagan's big scandal the Iran/Contra Affair. (Anyone, please correct me if I get any of this info wrong.) The Reagan Administration, or at least factions thereof, were selling weapons to the Contras in Columbia to help them overthrow their government, and also negotiating with the money from selling those weapons to free hostages being held in Iran. Both of those actions were/are contrary to policy.

I've seen this information before, with the clips from the interrogation of Ollie North. Of course, it doesn't really surprise me that Al Gore didn't have a clue. I wasn't real "up" on politics at the time since I was a teen, but I was definitely keeping up with the PMRC, Tipper's group to villify music. He was clueless about that, too. No offense to Democrats here, but I just still can't believe how much the Clinton administration messed up on the whole terrorist front. They had the chance to get rid of Osama Bin Laden but didn't think he was much of a threat to American security. Sad.

Oh, thanks Heidi, but what was North's role in the Iran Contra Affair?

(I guess I could just research it on the Internet
)

OK, well doing a little research, I was wrong on a whole lot of points!
It was Nicaragua, not Columbia, and they were planning on shipping arms to Iran. Oliver North was one of the central figures in arranging all of the transactions and was granted immunity while testifying before Congress on the matter.

Anyway, most of the background is at this site, which, unfortunately, shows that this story is not true at all.

Sorry to tell you guys, but that whole clip of Ollie saying it was Osama Bin Laden is all a hoax.

He did say some of it, but the name wasn't Bin Ladens'. Soembody doctored up the facts to make it more dramatic.

Unfortunately, this is just another email internet hoax!!
