In general should a 6 week old Kitten weigh 1 pound or should a 4 week old Kitten weigh 1 pound???

I am switching Vets and when I take Roper in on Friday to the new vet to get neuter they want all of his medical papers. I'm typing it up now.

When I brought Roper to the vet the first week I found him at the Gas Station he wieghed 1.1 lbs and I told the vet to put him down as 6 weeks. So is that average weight for a 6 week old Kitten? Or should I put 4 weeks down on his new medical paper? I dont want the new vet to think I abused him and he wieghed less than he should.

When I foster, the shelter expects the kittens to be around 2 pounds at 8 weeks, so I'd guess 1 pound around 4 weeks, but like human babies, they're all different.

I doubt the vet would think that, if you explain where you found him. He may very well be a bit small because of his poor start in life, I think you're vet needs to know that.

Wow - looks like he's doing quite well! Actually I had a kitten that only weighed about 7 ounces at 4 weeks, and didn't make it to one pound until 8 weeks! But she was the runt of 8 - and is very healthy now!

lol Yea he was pretty scrawny when I found him but he started eating good when he came here! I gave him extra protein by feeding him scrambled eggs, he also liked Smoked Salmon alot and Tuna along with his regular kitten food.
