hi

we own an auto body shop and one cat had kittens in an old wrecked
car and we fed them and now two years later i have a ton of cats.
we have three cars for them and i bought some cat houses made of
wood and shingle roofs. i am breeding cats. the food is costing me a ton
of money and i feel sorry for them. i cant stop feeding them because i
know they will starve to death they know me but i cant get to close.
i have called everywhere to try and get help i even offered to pay for
them until they get adopted. does anyone know where i can get help
someone to take them and not hurt them in anyway. they all have names
and are very cute just a little shy.
also does anyone know where i could get discounted food for them
im spending about $60.00 a week or more. do they have a birth control
pill i can give them. i always had dogs and i have rescued dogs and found
homes for all of them but i cant seem to get any help for these poor
souls. nobody wants cats and that's just mean.
is there anything i can do besides what im doing? please help.:

Have you looked for a shelter or humane society in your area that would help with a TNR (Trap Neuter Release) programme for these cats? The first priority is to get all of them neutered and spayed or they will triple in numbers again in a few months. You have been trying to be kind to them, and bless you for caring about them, but as you have discovered, it is not always the right thing to do on its own. Speak to a local vet - they may point you in the right direction.

Oh Pinkie, you are doing a great thing caring for cats, but as you have experienced they will multiply if you dont get them neutered and spayed. Jenny is right, you need to get in touch with a local shelter for advice and support. Have a look in your local papers or as Jenny mentioned a vet should be able to point you in the right direction.
As you can imagine you need to get moving as the females will keep coming into season and the kittens will just keep coming.
Good Luck and keep us posted !

This is the problem when you start feeding outside. If you cannot afford to spay and neuter, you are best off NOT to feed. I know this sounds heartless, but the cats that are feeding need to stop breeding. Once the food is removed, they will move on to another place and hopefully, at that place there will be someone who will be able to afford to spay and neuter.

Contact a local feral rescue group in your area- Google your hometown then feral cat rescue and click and see what comes up. Tell them your situation and offer a donation to them $$ ask them to help you trap. Most of these organizations are backed by others who pay for spaying and neutering.

I know you are going to be saying "But I can't let them starve!" They won't starve. And just feeding them, you really aren't helping them at all. I know, because I have been there and done that years and years ago. Because of the sheer number of the cats coming into feed 82 within two years, I educated myself about ferals and strays and what to do. This was way before the Internet and other options that now exist. That is why I am so adament now when people contact me and say they want to "rescue" If you can't do the TNR trap neuter and release- then don't feed.

Pinkie....I would really recommend that you try to find a low cost clinic and start taking some of these cats in to be spayed/neutered. Right now, spaying/neutering is the ONLY way to stop them from breeding. Below is a link to a list of low cost clinics by state:

I have to agree with Hissy that if you cannot afford to have these cats fixed, that you should not be providing food to them. That will only encourge them to stay around and continue to breed.

If you provide your city/state, we may be able to provide you with other suggestions.

Katie
