I don't have any kids, but my sister does. Both children were conceived it seemed MINUTES after she went off the pill. She must be very fertile too...It all depends on the person too..some people have a harder time right off the pill conceiving.

That's true. It took my mom over a year to get pregnant with me (first child) after going off the pill. My younger sister, on the other hand, was a whoops pregnancy.

I guess I can't help you out either as my son wasn't planned, but I didn't take enough precausions, so about 3 months.

I've been off birth control for 1 year now and I've yet to get pregnant. I was on depo for a full year and decided it wasn't good for me (after talking with a doc) and stopped using it. The doc said it could take up to a full year to get pregnant with trying after being on depo for that long, but I am not currently trying, so hopefully no surprises a long the way.

I've only been married 6 months and want to spend some time with my husband first and go on some nice vacations...so we might start trying in about 2 years.

yes, it can take up to a year for your body to become regular again (ovulate regularly)....per my obgyn.....

that was my plan too Jenny, I was so responsible....using BC....waiting till we were financially prepared....traveling a bit....partying a bit....enjoying "us" time.... then we decided to try....well they said wait till your regular, so one year off of BC, and then give it one year of trying....it's been 2 1/2 years of trying....and still no baby....
now we're just starting to go through the embarassing, humiliating, stressful testing.....

I had one miscarriage after I stopped taking birth control pills for 6 months, which I attribute to having taken birth control pills for years. Then we used other forms of birth control until my body had time to recover. The very first time I did not use any contraceptive I got pregnant. I told the doctor the date I didn't use the contraceptive and probably got pregnant. He said my baby would be due on June 2 - Jennifer was born on June 2.

Oh sweetie I'm so sorry. I'm afraid that may be where I'm headed too. If you need someone to talk to, just drop me a pm ok? I know how devastating it can be to wonder why.

We waited a year after we got married to start "not trying not to get pregnant", did that mixed with timing methods of trying to concieve, finally decided it was now or never about 6 years ago, spent about 2 years at the infertility specialist, decided to give it one last try (with the meds) and then just keep praying about what else we were supposed to do if not be parents. On the last try, up popped Abigail!

She's 3 now- and is looking like she will be an only child, but if she's all we have, she is more than enough; she is an blessing
. All in all, we waited 11 years
, but sometimes God isn't saying "no", he's saying "wait on me" (though it's horribly hard most times!
). In my case, I had to get to the point that I trusted God to having something even better for me than my dream of being a mom, if that was what was in His plan for my life
. I'm quite stubborn, apparently,
but I had moved on to being a reading tutor for adults(during our last round of meds) when we found out we were pregnant.

Of course, we thought this would be a breeze, as 4 out of 5 of my DH's side nieces and nephews were surprises, and my sister got pregnant with both of her kids on the first try (actually, the second was a month before they were trying again, but he came after Ab
...so you just never know, I guess.

I'm here too, if you (or anybody else) need(s) to talk- just pm me
.
