Oh you so have me biting back a slightly inappropriate comment here!

That is quite a size jump in a short time. I did that same jump in about the same time, but it was between 8th and 9th grade. I used to be pretty self conscious about it too. I pretty much trained myself subconsciously to slouch because then the girls don't get so far ahead of me and get less attention. Obviously that's not helped my back. Then I stayed at that size till I put on weight in college. I plan on having a reduction after I have kids in a few years. Some days I don't think I want to wait for that though. I even have a heating thing in my desk at work for my back.

You're tellin me! It about freaked me out too- as well as my doctor- she said that if they grew anymore i should have some mammagrams done. So yea, that scared me a bit. I'm not subconscious about it though- i like the extra oomph....it's just i liked being a B cup better because it was easier to shop when they were smaller. Haha, at least if i have children they won't starve

Aside from that scenario (which is why you must always try a bra on), the measurement, done strictly, isn't actually optional. If you're say, 36D, that means your the circle around the your underbust is 36 inches. A 38 gives you two more inches in the back AND THE CUP, so you can wear it comfortably, but it won't give you the correct support (which is essential to the "look" and the long-term structure of your bust). Most people think support comes from the straps - this is not true. Only a small amount of the support comes from the straps - a correctly fitting bra holds the bust, it does not pull it up.
Thanks for all the advice! You seem soo knowledgable on the topic! Geesh! I wish they trained the ladies that do the sizing 1/2 as well!

Given how much time TCS members spend looking at kitty nethers... we probably all are, de facto.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
My bras tend to last a long time because:

1) I've been in the right size for a long time now.

2) I NEVER put my bras in the dryer (my husband knows not to do this as well).

3) VS has been nothing but good to me.

And 4) I've been wearing underwired bras since I was 10. My mom anticipated that I would need underwired bras when I started developing at around 9 years of age. I wasn't a D cup until I was 17 (at least, that's what I told myself, lol).

If you take care of your bras, you can get a lot of mileage out of them. Mine typically last until they are so discolored from sweat/hard water that I just refuse to wear them anymore.

I'm like Leighann, I usually throw my bras out when the underwire makes its appearance and gouges me
mine last for awhile though, maybe 2 years? that's about how often I buy bras too I suppose. I'm a 40D so VS is out for me, but I love Bali bras
I get them at Kohl's when they have a 14.99 sale

Movin' on up!
WalMart carries a brand/style that I like. At 49, things aren't exactly where they were when I was 25 and I need support. Therefore, I wear pushups. On occasion, something frivolous and pretty catches my eye and I buy it, on a whim.

Believe it or not, I have gotten some very good, pretty bras at the flea market. A dealer out there sells them at 3/10$ and they've always fit well and are reasonably comfortable. I love my lavender one, with silver glitter and ruffles.

The worst bras, that I ever had, were some name brand ones from Big Lots. After a day's wear, I was in pain. Those immediately went into the donation box.

I'll mix between Target and VS.

The weird thing is that the Target ones last longer then the VS. Normally the strap breaks after 2 years with me. The Target ones keep going for about 4 years.

Maybe I just wear the VS more?

Anyways, thanks for the reminder! I need to buy more! I'm still phasing out some older bras.

I miss VS's older sales though...where anything above $25 was unheard of...while I like that they still have the sale, I just don't feel like I'm getting the same bargains.

Well.....I'm about to get dressed and head out to pick up my niece and run some errands! After that we're going to the mall!!!
It will be her first bra shopping excursion. I think she'll have fun!

Crap!!!!!

VS's sale doesn't begin until tomorrow! I went up to the mall at lunch and while they are having a 40% sale, I was sad.

Well back to the mall I go tomorrow!
