If you have a rescue kitty and do not know the exact date of birth do you celebrate the day they come into your life or the month/day they might have been born? For example Puff came to us around my birthday because I joked with hubby that he could adopt Puff for my birthday. Well he didn't so on Nov. 9th I adopted him myself.

But since I know he was close to 8 months old when I adopted him that means his birthday would have been in March or April. I think I'll celebrate his bday in Nov when he came into my life. Sort of a re-birth from his bad start in life.

What do you do or think?

We celebrate Abby's "Gotcha" day, the day we adopted her - January 13th.

I usually invent a day for them. But I do like the idea of celebrating the day they came to live with me. Though I don't remember when that was for Chynna. I think she adopted me sometime in April 1993, but I can't be sure.

I know Abby's birthday (June 19, 1998).

Ariel is the only one whose actual birthday we know, so we celebrate then. For the others, we celebrate their "gotcha" day.

ALL of my animals are rescues....even the rabbit. The only one of mine that I know the exact birthdate for is my Wolf mix Ginger. As far as the rest of mine go- i just try to guess the date that they were approx born when i adopted them and celebrate that
When all else fails- i celebrate their gotcha day

Easy is the only one I dont know a birthday for. I need to create a whole new day for her. I have celebrated her Birthday, the same day as her baby's and just added a year, but I actually found her a few days before that, so it's not her "Gotcha Day" and she's not really a full year older than them. Poor Easy.

I always celebrate the day I got them - so mine could all be older than I think they are!! I could never make a guess at a birthday with them all being oldies.

I've just been pondering this... We got Stumpy in July last year, and she was about 7 months old, which means she was born about now. I can't decide whether I should make up a birthday for her about now, or just celebrate her "gotcha day".

You could always do both.

My girls were 10 weeks old when we got them I believe (either that or 11) so I counted back that many weeks and we celebrate their birthday then.

I celebrate "Gotcha Days" also. Leo's is July 4, Gracie's is December 2 and Raphael's is coming up on February 12

Raphael is the only one with an approximate DATE, which is 10/1/98. Leo's DOB is 6/01 and Gracie's is simply 2004.

We celebrate their adoption days...but I like the sound of "Gotcha Day" better, so I think we'll start calling them that!
