I'm really glad that the mother was arrested and charged with child neglect.

Hopefully she'll get her child back some day (with a few changes like a clean apartment and napping only when the child naps)...sorry, I just don't like to see children grow up in the foster care system.

I hope that the county has a good program in place to help that family out. Sounds like mom has some deeper issues, and BTW -where was dad?? It takes two to make a child, and if mom is unwilling or unable, then dad needs to step up to the plate

Does it surprise me that this happened in my hometown of Indianapolis? Nope. Why oh why do Hoosiers only get in the news for stupid things...

Oh boy!,This just brings back so many thoughts and memories for me.

I wandered out onto a busy road when I was about 2 and half-3,The 'family' dog followed me out and sat in the road with me.. to protect me(I believe)

I was taken back to my 'mother' and nothing more was done about the 'matter'.
I grew up having to listen to my 'mother' telling the 'story' to family and friends as though it was something to be proud of

and the family dog,His name was Kim...they had him pts when I was 5 because they were moving home

Ohhhhh dear. Those poor children. Let's hope that their mother gets a very big wake-up call from this and changes her life so that they can be returned to her. Children belong with their mother, and it sounds like she needs a kick in the right direction.

Sadly, though, I doubt she will get the help she needs, and so I hope and pray that those children are raised in safety and happiness - together.

Poor kid. I hope where ever he is raised (as well as his sibling) have a normal halthy life and this is nothing more than a faint memory.

That reminds me of a sitution with an aquaintaince of mine. We used to be really good friends, or so I thought until I realized what kind of a person she is. Her son ran off when he was five and went several blocks away from her house and their cousin stopped infront of him along with a cop right before he walked out in front of a car. And this same person has a two year old child that she started to potty train and has decided since he didn't catch on the first day that she didn't have time to mess with him. This same person has pets that run loose and two of her dogs rescently got hit by cars and she said well they were in the road.
I still don't understand why people who treat their kids and pets like dirt can manage to have them and people who would give their kids the world can't seem to have babies.

This kinda stuff makes me physically sick....how people can be blessed with children & discard them like trash, and then people who want babies so badly can't get pregnant?! It's so upsetting.....I wish they would take those babies, and give them to someone who wants them....I'm sorry, I don't believe she should get a second chance to kill them....

FurryFerals.....are you sure your mom is not my MIL?! She is the same way....brags about how she's still chasing my husband around with a coat hanger (insinuating she wants to abort him) like it's funny..... I'd like to let them play in traffic & eat off the floor! RIP Kim....you little of God....thank you for keeping our FurryFerals safe!

At face value, the thought that a child got out of the house and ran into the street isn't neglect. However, the fact that he was 3 and still wearing diapers, the state of the apartment, and that the other child was eating food off the floor makes it a neglect case (among other things I'm sure).

This woman showed no remorse or emotion when she was told about what happened to her child. I saw the video of her being escorted out of the apartment in handcuffs, and her face was blank. I hope those children find a better home and life.

Now, I only separate the two (children sneaking out vs. parents not caring) because when my brother was 3, he walked out of our front yard (I wasn't even born at the time), down the street, across another street, then across a 4 lane road, through a HUGE parking lot, into the grocery store, took a toy, and was caught by my grandma on his way home. She took him back to the store to return the toy.

My mom was frantic. She stepped inside for a minute, and felt like the world was ending when she noticed he wasn't in the yard anymore. She couldn't leave the house because my other brother (he was much younger at the time) was taking a nap (why she stepped inside). She learned a lesson, but it was far from neglect.
