Since I work for a pet products company I drop off shampoo and I offer to groom dogs that come in and are exceptionally dirty or matted. I haven't had to go often though.
You know...my Ginger might just be an exception to the rule...but she is AWESOME around kids and small animals. We started her out as a puppy knowing that we were the "pack leaders" so to speak and that aggression/ dominance wasn't tolerated. She is an incredable little girl!
She however does not like men unless she knows them....but once she gets to know them - she is fine around them and will cover them in kisses
. She doesn't like some men because when I was younger...my dad broke into our house and beat my mom up in an attempt to kidnap me. I was in my bedroom (in the back of the duplex) at the time with Ginger in my room....you have never seen anything until you see a wolf go after someone- she about tore his arm off chasing him out of our house protecting my mom and I. It gave us time to call the cops and get rid of my dad. Had it not been for Ginger- there's no telling what would have happened- she saved our lives that day..and i've always had a really special connection with her ever since. She is definitely my mom's baby though- she sleeps with her every single night and they are best friends
That's why she stays at my mom's house, not colin's with me. Her and my mom are inseperable
. So although there's some controversey about owning hybrids/ mixes ....i have to say- as far as my girl goes- i couldn't have been blessed with a better dog
She does yodle and howly though
It'd kinda cute- but she never bites and is exceptionally gentle around kids and other animals...keep in mind though- i've had her from a pup and we've had a chance to raise her and establish ourselves as her pack leader- so she responds well to that.
I would definitely not mind adopting another wolf mix if the opportunity ever presented itself...

I had a husky once that would howl. It was so wonderful to hear it. I could get her going by howling myself. She loved me doing that. We'd have our own little contest...lol...

Sounds like your Ginger was meant to be. I'm glad you have that special bond.. and bravo for her protecting you.

Thankyou! She is definitely a sweetie!
Heheh, you should hear her howl- i swear my poor neighbors get to hear it about 50 times a day
serves them right for subjecting us to their crappy music
I consider us even!

Waya. It's Shawnee meaning wolf.

Here she is doing her thing.

Unfortuntately I had to rehome her. My neighbors were poisoning my dogs.

And if she looks undersized to you it's because she is. She was a result of byb and inbreeding. I didn't know better at the time.

She was a beauty!
I'm glad you were able to successfully rehome her. It's terrible what your neighbors did! Was she indoors only or did she go outside too? My gang (all of them..cats, dogs, and the rabbit) are indoors only- i'd be too scared to let them out around my wacko neighbors./ I didn't really understand about BYB until a few years back when I began to foster/volunteer and saw just aweful cases and results of BYB come through the shelters/my home. Once I learned about it i really focused on education and telling others about them

She was outside. I let her in one time and she bit my cats foot. (The one I talked about before that had a bad experience) Waya was his first bad experience. I had them separated but I didn't think about the space between the door and the floor. Cat had his paw under the door and waya went and bit is two didgets off.

I hate to have them ouside too. And I vowed after that to never have another outside dog.

Yeah he scared us with that but you'd be amazed how much it didn't really bother him. His toes were amputated and he did just fine. He was a little clumsy though.

If you think you might be interested in him let me know
He's at the shelter I volunteer at so i could talk to some of my friends and see if they'd hold him
He's a total sweetie! Everytime I go in to visit the animals, he always covers me in kisses

Unfortunately my home is not ready for another pet. Not until we buy a place of our own. But do keep us updated. I hope he finds that perfect forever home.
