Ginger is such a male name for me, and she isn't quite ginger. But you all got me thinking about spices and things and I am wavering between

Cinnamon
Toffee
Caramel
Pepper
All of them would describe her in a way.

How about Gingembre or Caramel? Those are French names and she's a French cat...Caramel is apparently French for 'butterscotch'.

Yes, I was thinking the same way. Caramel was very much in mind because of that, and the others don't translate as well into French as far as names go - I cannot imagine a cat named #poivre# or even worse, 'poivron'!

I just looked up a site of French animal names and apparently cats born in 2006 should have names beginning with 'B' . I knew the French did this with horses, but it is also dogs and cats. So after studying their lists I shall call her 'Biscotte'. It sort of goes with my pony 'Tartine'!

I like it!
Something about her face reminds me just a bit of my beloved angel, Bookie (Boo-key).

Does Biscotte mean the same as Bisquit? What year was Tartine born? I thought Tartine was born in 2006 also, for some reason. What does Tartine translate to in English?

Horses do have year letters, but they are not the same ones as dogs and cats! Go figure. So 2006 was 'T' for horses and 'B' for cats. Tartine means a piece of bread spread with something sweet and delicious like honey or jam or chocolate. What French kids are often given when they come home from school. Biscotte is that bread you buy in slices, ready toasted a lovely golden colour and you spread it with cheese or pate or sweet toppings.
