I took my trash out this afternoon and found a brass and glass "touch lamp" sitting outside the basement elevators against a wall. It's the "junk" area where people sometimes put their cast offs that are still good and leave them for the taking.
It was pretty and nothing looked wrong with it and the cord was attached and whole. I figured I'd bring it up to my apartment and try it out. It works perfectly fine! Not a scratch on it. And to my surprise it is one of those "touch lamps" where you touch the shade or the base and it lights up: dim, medium and bright.
It's gorgeous. Very similar to the picture, only the glass panels have a diagonal bar of clear glass on the lower part of the panels. The bar looks like a ladder (sides and rungs are opaque glass) that was placed diagonally. It's so pretty! I think I'll put it in my bedroom so that I don't have to fumble around trying to find the lamp switch all the time.
