Not sure if I should worry about it. This is a 2nd night that I had to wake up Twinkie because she either sounded like she was coughing or snorting. To me it sounded more like congested cough. When I walk her up she continued that for a second than stopped. Otherwise she looks healthy and I don’t see or near it during the day or when I am around. It looks like she only does it in her sleep. Anyone have any ideas? Should I contact my vet for this?

My Ferris snores in his sleep, but I've never heard him coughing. I've seen Ginger coughing before, so I know what that sounds like.

I'd say a vet trip might be in order to rule out an URI.

I think you are right I will take her to the vet or maybe send my husband with her since I work during the day. I feel so bad for her she sounded congested and loud to a point that she walk me up. I don't think it was a snore but you never know. I am new to cats and not experienced enough to know for sure. Maybe they can listen to her lunges and see if they hear anything.

One of my cats have had a cough for several months now (he is 2 yrs old). A congested cough like you describe. He has been put on antibiotics several times and has had 3 different chest x-rays to view his lungs. There a little inflammation but nothing too much out of the ordinary according to our vet. He is now on Enisyl - it has only been a few days so we'll see how that works. Meanwhile, about 6 months ago, we took in 2 stray kittens. They just got neutered and now one of them is coughing like the oldest one. Our vet has come to the conclusion that he has herpes. I will be very interested in what you find out from your vet! This has been very frustrating to see our cats go thru this and it doesn't seem that we can find anything to help it.
