Am looking into getting 2 kittens (probably Siamese). Wanted to know if it was better to get them both from same litter or to get from separate litters. Also is there any benefit from getting a certain combination of sexes (M/M, M/F?)
Thanks!

If you can get litter mates, it is (IMO) a lot easier for them to adjust to a new home and environment. They have a familiar mate to play with, not someone else to adjust to. I have no preference as to gender, but males tend to be a lot more affectionate, again, IMO.

My sister has 2 sets of littermates. All males, all get along well.

5 of my cats are littermates, 2M 3F, again all get along great.

I vote same litter. Its hard enough being separated from mom and so much better if they at least have a brother or sister to share the experience with.

I've got two males and they're a dream. Same litter, different father, one is part Siamese and looks a lot like siamese.

Just purrfect! I have heard people say don't get two males but I've had them for six months and cannot for the life of me see any evidence of problems. They are wonderfully affectionate, to me, to my adult cat, and two each other. They have their own personalities but interesting similarities.

I think it's a great idea!

Where my cats are
Mooch and Noodles are litter mates. When I first brought them home, they only cried if they couldn't find each other in the house. It solved a lot of the harder things with having kittens. They were kenneled together at night and didn't get bored, therefore got into a little bit less! A little bit! When we found each other at the shelter, they were the last of their litter there. Mama was there but I didn't know it at the time! I might have been able to get her too! She looked like Mooch!

I would recommend getting litter mates!

There's no place like home
Cats in the wild have a preference for living with cats that are genetically related. They usually pair up with the same sex, so I suggest either getting both males or both females. It will be a more natural environment for them. My personal preference is males. I have a number of pairs of littermates living with me and they do very well together.

Siblings are fine - better sometimes as they are used to each other and already have decided the dominance thing.

I'd get 2 males (neutered). They seem to be the best combo. If you go with M/F be sure both are spayed/neutered at an early age - siamese kittens can and do breed at 4 months of age.

I really regret not getting Radar's brother when I got him, in hindsight I think getting 2 from the same litter is a wonderful idea
They won't be as lonely those first few days and they can explore and play together, and you won't need to go through a lengthy introduction process because they are already familiar with each other

i have 2 sisters and also brother and sister , the brother and sister are inseperable , they go where ever the other goes , if one goes out the other will follow one will come in the other will come in and so on , the sisters are still only 4 1/2 months old , but always playing together . so i would say get for the same litter. mm or mf or ff it dosnt matter how you do this , as long as there both netured or spayed there shouldnt be any problem.
