He held the office of President under horrible conditions, not elected, and at a really tough time, right after Nixon's resignation for Watergate and Agnews resignation for other dirty dealings. He seemed to have a lot of class and even before leaving office he seemed to be liked by both Democrats and Republicans. His wife also broke her silence on her own problems with alcohol long before it became fashionable to do so. That took a lot of courage. She also insisted on sharing a bedroom with the President. At that time that simply was not done.

I'm not psychic,I just see through people
I was a bit young when Gerald Ford took up office and too young to understand.
But what I learned later on was.....There stood a man who was honest, genuine and had a lot of 'guts'...(English slang for courage)

My condolences to his family and friends

Gerald Ford took office at a difficult time and did everything he could to heal the country after Watergate and all that followed. He was an honest, decent and genuine person.

Condolences to Mrs. Ford and the family.

That is very sad.

I have always supported our Presidents.

We elect them to do the best job that they can, I think we forget that they are humans like everybody else.

I am sending prayers from Mississippi for the Ford family.

I just heard George McGovern on Larry King Live admit that he voted for Ford in 1976. He waited until Thanksgiving Day dinner to admit that he voted for him and it turned out that his wife and several of his children also did. He also said that Ford invited him to a small dinner at the White House after the fall of Saigon and McGovern told him that night that it was the first time he had been invited socially to the White House because of his outspoken opposition to the war. Ford told him he knew that and that was why he invited him. I think these things show just how decent a man he was and how well liked and respected he was by everyone who knew him.

How i was to young to vote back then, I do remember thinking i liked both ford and carter lol

Now being a little older i understand how hard it must have been for him to step into that office with all the stuff going on around Nixon.

Only a good strong MAN can take his opposition in his midst and listen,Rather than trample him underfoot.
