I have armed myself to the teeth with "Twisted Whiskers" & "Cat vs. Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett. Once I am finished reading both, I will attempt yet another re-intorduction of Ophelia & TigerLily/Twitch. Hopefully this one will go better than the last few!

My question is this....should I rub a small blanket on Ophelia & then show it to Lily to sniff? Then do the same...rub the blanket on Lily & then give it to Ophelia to sniff?

Yes. Vanilla, Feliway, Amitrityline, etc. Tried a re-intorduction 3x before, but it never once worked. Now that I am armed with knowledge from my two new books, I htink I can make this work! And if it doesn't....well I will leap that hurdle when I get there.

Props to you for sticking this out! I know you've been working at it for awhile! I'd try the scent sharing thing (if you've got two seperate blankets/garmets so you could leave each with the other cat for quite some time that'd be best I think).... when I started bringing Oliver to visit my parents, which meant sharing the house with my 12 year old black lab, he was originally confined to just my room, then I'd start bringing him downstairs while the dog was outside playing... she'd sniff around where he'd been when she got back inside, and since then the intro has gone smoothly... granted they're not best friends, but they co-exist when he and I are here, haha (he's only gonna be 5 and wants to play, she'll be 13 and wants nothing to do with him, so there's a lot of swatting at her snoz and him running off, like "catch me if you can" and she just looks at him like "go. away." haha)... good luck and keep us posted!

PS: isn't Ophie the deaf kitty as well? How's the signing going if you've kept up with it? Ollie is sharp as a tack with his even though he's not deaf!

The way I have always understood it: Rub cat A with a towel/blanket then rub cat B with the same towel and visa versa. That way they begin to smell like the other one.

My 2 c's worth ... if you keep them separated all the time, they'll never get used to each other being around, let alone the scents. Just let them work it out (unless someone is actually harming the other one).

Can't let them work it out. There has been both physical & mental damage. Lily lost much of her fur on her butt once from an attack from Ophelia. I tired one too many times to just let them work it out. It took a month's worth of anti-depressants & Feliway, plus some loving & extra food/treats to get Lily back to somewhat of the same cat. Lily has become fearful of strangers because of Ophelia's attacks.

To Buzby...the sign language didn't work. She would learn something & remember it for like 30 seconds. I tried for months on one command & she never learned it!
She's meowmy's little dummy....she often cannot remember where to find the cypurr mouse....I've never once moved it!

I'll try switching cat blankets for awhile at first. Then if that goes well I might try switching their kitty baskets. Both Lily & Ophelia have the exact same basket, just on different floors of the house.

Good luck!
BTW what kind of vanilla?

Benson & Lucky have been fighting for 4 hours now. I only break it up when they are about to break something. Ben had gone after Molly after a spat with Lucky. She had an asthma attack and she is sleeping with the hubby.
