I was really excited to adopt this 12 year old kitty who will likely otherwise be euthanized. My parents told me OK, but I should wait until Damita's ringworm cleared up. They tell me last night(Christmas Eve), that they changed their minds, I can't adopt her. This kitty is supposed "dog aggressive", therefore none of the rescues we work with will take her! I still hope to talk them into fostering, but I serously doubt any of the shallow minded people here will adopt a cat so old. I'm going to have to talk to the woman I kitty-sat for to see if she would take her.

I am so pissed! I wasn't given a reson on why I can't have her. I suspect it is because Damita is sick, again.

Thanks for letting me rant. No one else would understand how important it is for me to adopt this senior kitty.

Yes! They just don't seem to think I'm serious!
I guess I don't really like the kitty, she's not exactly very nice, but she doesn't deserve to die because her owners were stupidheads!

Sending {{{{prayers and vibes}}}} that the kitty find a suitable home quickly!! IF everyone is worried about the cat's bad attitude, the cat will sense it and act out in response.
Maybe you could reapproach your parents with the idea that working with such a difficult cat will give you valuable education
. As for being dog-aggressive, it seems that it shouldn't be very difficult to keep the dogs away from the cat; dogs are pack animals and will do exactly as the pack leaders (you and your folks) tell them to do. All in all, though, it sounds like the cat would be better served in a more welcoming atmosphere - it would be easier on you, too. Good luck! Susan

If your parents say no to you adopting the cat, how about trying to convince them to let you foster it until you can find another home for it? This way the kitty is rescued and has a second chance at finding a loving home for the rest of her life?

I have tried the foster angle, but that's how we got Damita & Dorian(Formerly Chico). This kitty is as unadoptable as they were. I'll have to ask if I can foster her just for a week or two to see how she reacts to the dogs. Then maybe they'll fall in love with her.....

My parents just anger me sometimes. Do they not realize the heck this poor kitty has been through & how she has never ever been loved or wanted her entire life? ...sigh....

I'm so sorry. Hopefully they were just in a bad mood and will change thier mind. If not I guess all you can do is try your best to find someone else who will give her a forever home.
