James Brown has passed away at the age of 73. His very favorite song to me is "Try Me"! Although his later music hasn't quite measured up to the brilliance of his previous songs, his legend lives on. What a great loss to the music world

That is so sad! He has lived in Augusta, GA for many years, and I had the pleasure of meeting him several times. He was a really nice guy, and quite a character. There is a life size bronze statue of him in down town Augusta, wearing his fancy clothes and big cape like he did in the '70s. What a loss to the music world.

I'm not really familiar with his music, but I know that he is a music icon/legend.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

There is one consolation. He left his mark on the world and he will be forever remembered through his music.

Sounds like a great guy, Rebecca, and you were so fortunate to meet him!

So true, Natalie, he most certainly left his permanent mark on the world through his distinct music.

It's kind of ironic tht he should pass away on Christmas. He always decorated his house and yard, and it was a big thing to go see his decorations. He had a black Santa and Nativity scene before anyone made them much. He had his made. He had life size reindeer strung across his house and yard. He had hundreds of lights and sometimes you could catch him in the yard waving at people as they went by. He really enjoyed the people coming to see his decorations. He would always do something for the kids around Augusta for Christmas. RIP, Godfather of Soul.
