This picture may not seem like a big deal, but it is and I will tell you why....
It was taken on the bed where DH and I sleep (along with Zircon), and Sophia jumps up when we wake up for the "morning snuggle."
After getting him as a semi-feral in August, losing him and trapping him exactly one month later, confining him to the downstairs guest bedroom for just under a month, losing him briefly for 10 days in November, he had decided that being a pet cat was not so bad. As a matter of fact, after that second time being out he was a changed cat. He vacated the downstairs and instead of hanging out there all the time and only coming up to eat, became very affectionate and attached. If DH or I go into the kitchen, we have to watch that we do not trip over him. (For a while I had a policy that if Brady made it to the kitchen he was to be rewarded with a piece of cheese as positive reinforcement). When DH or I go to the bathroom first thing in the morning, in addition to Sophia making sure we don't fall into the magic waterbowl, now Brady has to come in with her and check up on us. When we watch TV in the evening, Brady claims a seat on the couch near us. If we are relaxing in front of the wood stove, Brady curls up on the hassock.
His arias at 2:30 were getting annoying-he seemed to really want to go out. After several failed attempts I finally got a harness onto him and took him outside. He froze, obviously frightened, so I brought him back in and he has toned it down since then. He wakes me up on the morning so that he can play his game of batting a long-fingered toy while he ducks under a step. And he seems to like roughhousing with DH.
But he steadfastly refused to go into our bedroom for more than ten seconds. But look where he has decided is a good place to sleep all day! Smack in the middle of our king-size bed! Only a matter of time until he joins us for the morning snuggle! What a great Christmas present!
