This picture may not seem like a big deal, but it is and I will tell you why....

It was taken on the bed where DH and I sleep (along with Zircon), and Sophia jumps up when we wake up for the "morning snuggle."

After getting him as a semi-feral in August, losing him and trapping him exactly one month later, confining him to the downstairs guest bedroom for just under a month, losing him briefly for 10 days in November, he had decided that being a pet cat was not so bad. As a matter of fact, after that second time being out he was a changed cat. He vacated the downstairs and instead of hanging out there all the time and only coming up to eat, became very affectionate and attached. If DH or I go into the kitchen, we have to watch that we do not trip over him. (For a while I had a policy that if Brady made it to the kitchen he was to be rewarded with a piece of cheese as positive reinforcement). When DH or I go to the bathroom first thing in the morning, in addition to Sophia making sure we don't fall into the magic waterbowl, now Brady has to come in with her and check up on us. When we watch TV in the evening, Brady claims a seat on the couch near us. If we are relaxing in front of the wood stove, Brady curls up on the hassock.

His arias at 2:30 were getting annoying-he seemed to really want to go out. After several failed attempts I finally got a harness onto him and took him outside. He froze, obviously frightened, so I brought him back in and he has toned it down since then. He wakes me up on the morning so that he can play his game of batting a long-fingered toy while he ducks under a step. And he seems to like roughhousing with DH.

But he steadfastly refused to go into our bedroom for more than ten seconds. But look where he has decided is a good place to sleep all day! Smack in the middle of our king-size bed! Only a matter of time until he joins us for the morning snuggle! What a great Christmas present!

YES, it is a wonderful Christmas present!! TommyScott, my former feral, has also tamed downed utterly completely. And in several ways, he's actually more tame than my other cats - he will let me hold him on my shoulder for extended periods of time
and he is very involved with my grandson, even though my other cats figure anything that can toddle is to be avoided
It is a great honor that Brady trusts you enough to be on your bed - it was TS's final big step before becoming a housecat, too.

That is fantastic, I remember when you could barely get near him! He is really beautiful, so many different shades in his coat

Well Christmas morning he actually joined the four of us on the bed.

I think you would never know he was feral now. If my stepdaughter comes over he is out on the open and she can pet him. He is PICKY about his food (has been for a while). I felt guilty about feeding the dogs homemade raw food so I mixed up some yummy canned fish and raw liver for him, added some canned cat food to give it the right taste. So Brady looks at me as if he is saying "What, I'm supposed to eat this swill?? What happened to the Friskies??" I had no choice but to go back and remix the whole batch.

I still can't get over how he likes to roughhouse. And if there is something that scares him (aside from the vacuum cleaner) I'm sure I don't know what it would be.

What a wonderful Christmas morning!!!!
As to being picky, how is that different from our other spoiled domesticated ones? I had two of three turn their noses up to roast turkey last night. I think he is over being feral now. Congrats.

Cripes if I had thrown the camera at him I don't think he would have so much as moved his tail. We have dogs bounding up and down stairs, Sophia has a frightening growling soudsn when she is happy--nothing bother him (except as I said, the vacuum).

And I guess he has forgotten the days when he was lucky to get wormy mouse guts for dinner. He does not even like the wet food that much, he gos nuts for the Nutro chicken.

Spoiled rotten. I'll have to get a pic of him sacked out lengthwise on the couch with the fleece blankie.
