Oliver has had a bumpy weekend. By Friday and Saturday he seemed to be improving - in addition to my sryinge feeding, he ate a can of food each day on his own. He seemed more alert, etc. Then Sunday and Monday he slipped back to no appetite, very listless, etc. Barely picked at any food - so I am wondering if the medicine is even helping him. This AM again, he only ate what I fed him. He did seem to be a little more alert. In fact, he started following me around as I was getting ready for work. But, I think I should be seeing more improvement by now, if these drugs are going to help him. Does anyone have any experience with prednisone and how quickly it kicks in? Also the doxcycline? Should I move this post to health and nutrition? Thanks, Ellyn

I don't have any experience with the drugs or condition, so I have no advice, except to say that if you have any concerns, please don't hestitate to call the vet and just ask if you should be seeing an improvement yet.

You and Oliver remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I will be speaking with Oliver's vet this evening, after work. I hope to make an appointment to take him in for visit on Saturday. I guess this will be the time that I make a decision about my little guy's future. I really don't think that my vet will see an improvement in him. It just breaks my heart - he follows me around the house, with his fat little white feet and sweet face looking up at me. I know that he trusts me and I know that I am the one who needs to decide what is best for Oliver and it is going to be very hard. I pray for a miracle.

I'm so, so sorry you and Oliver have to go through this. I'll be praying for a miracle for you, but know in your heart that you have to do what is best for Oliver. He loves and trusts you and knows you would not let him suffer if the prognosis is not good. Hugs and love to you and Oliver in this difficult time.
